"but I would state when in the past we supported some dicatatorial regimes to overthrow communism they became worse fanatics."
I agree. Wasn't it our own CIA who funded and trained Bin Laden ? It is a complex situation and that is why I'm not one of those knee-jerkers who is going to say, "blow them up". LOL ! I trust that our government is aware of the situation and knows how to diplomatically deal with these people. However, Bush's policies did put us in a checkmate position.... wouldn't you agree ? And Osama Bin Laden's dream was to destroy our economy. He didn't have to.... Bush helped him achieve that goal. (insert two thumbs down)
Look its more complex than that. The after effects of the cold war spawned a real war only the nuclear arms remained behind. As I've stated Ronald Reagan did well to fight communism but in Afghanistan in arming the then Mujahadeen to fight the communists in Afghanistan allowed them to take over and then they morphed into the Taliban. I would not blame George Bush for that but I would state when in the past we supported some dicatatorial regimes to overthrow communism they became worse fanatics. Communism was an unworkable system economically and would have collapsed in time on its own. As for Albert Einstein he was aware that some of his scientific ideas and inventions were used to build the first atomic bomb. He later regretted that. But that was in World War II to stop the Germans who we believed had the technology to build one. One event in history leads to another and basically a common saying someone told me once which is "hindsight is 20/20" applies here. The question is what do we do now.
"We have never had so many countries all blowing off with threats at the same time"
Precisely ! The reason why this is.... the Bush administration. They have weakened our country and our economy, so now the dictators and terrorists are having a party!
We have never had so many countries all blowing off with threats at the same time, what was it Einstein said... the 4th World War will be fought with sticks and stones.....
I agree. We have too much going on all at once. Not to blame the Bush administration, but I never agreed with Bush's decision (and plot) to invade Iraq. I can only wonder where we would be right now, had Bush decided to go after the real terrorists and invade Afghanistan instead. Unfortunately.... that happened and now we have a real mess on our hands. I just thank God that Obama is president and Bush is finally GONE.
April, I am right there with you. Seems they want to start something, and soon. I know what you mean when you say, it has a different feel. And frankly it scares me.
