Did you guys here about the shooting in a Toys R Us in California on Black Friday? It didn't appear to be related to shopping, although it happened on the busiest shopping day of the year. It appeared to be gang related. 2 men are dead. What's scary is they just started fighting, then shooting each other in the middle of a busy store full of people, including children.
How sad.
What is wrong with these people ? The day before Thanksgiving, my best friend went shopping to buy her turkey. They only had a few left and these women were fighting over them. She couldn't believe it !
Have we no shame ????
That IS awful, I had no idea but also looked it up and read the story.
I've been a Black Friday shopper for several years, both in the Philadelphia area and now where I live NW of D.C. Thankfully, I've encountered a lot of very reasonable people and really enjoy the excitement of it.
My daughter wants me to get her a WII. Any good deals on that out there? They only get one big present and I don't want to spend more than $100.
Sorry, ChitChatNine, didn't mean to make your thread depressing! I know that you and many others would not be like those who trampled that poor man. I know many people enjoy shopping and getting good deals but still remember their manners! Unfortunately, many more don't.
I remember two years ago (I think?) when the Elmo TX came out and how that was the hottest toy. I thought it was real cute and thought I'd like to get it for my 2 year old. So I went out looking for it and no one had it. It was sold out everywhere. The craziest thing was people were selling it on the black market for two or three times what it was worth! I thought that was just wrong and greedy. So, I didn't try to find it anymore. Well, just last year, guess what? You couldn't hardly give away the Elmo TX. We found it on clearance at Kmart for $5! Yes, that's right! So, we gave it to our 3 year old and enjoyed playing with it ourselves! Crazy, huh?!
I found the story. Here it is:

That just sickens me. What a materialistic world we've become when "things" mean more than human life. This just only settles it in my own mind that I do not want to be out among these type people. We have a church here who's asked their youth to give up two Christmas presents to help build a well in an impoverished country. I would love to do something similar with my own kids. I don't want them to become too greedy and miss the true meaning of Christmas. I'll have to think about what we can do.
OMG! That's terrible news about the Walmart employee! I agree with April2, not only would they have to be giving stuff away...they'd have to pay me to go out there! Crowds, no parking, RUDE people! I'll stay home today:)
Are you serious????
They'd have to be GIVING stuff away for me to fight those crazy crowds. NO THANKS!
A Wal Mart employee was trampled to death by a herd of wild people in Long Island N.Y. this morning.
I was out by 4:30 AM, EST. I did Target, Best Buy, Bath & Body Works, and Kohls (a department store). Best Buy was the least impressive, but I suppose it depends on what you are shopping for!
The Wal Mart line (I didn't go there) was wrapped around the building waiting for the doors to open. The people at the very end of the line ended up near the door, and several rushed the entrance. Police were involved! Imagine THAT on your permanent record!
My biggest "score" was at Target--I got the Wii Guitar Hero World Tour bundle at the lowest price. I'm on the tall side, and was able to get the last one off the top shelf. Whee!!!
Ewww come back and let us know what you buy!!!!!
yes on my way out 10mins ago, its 6-30am here in CA and there are Bargains out there with my name on them!! Yipee...
