My husband used to hunt, now he's just not into it anymore and hasn't done so in many years...but we both fish.  We go out on the Delaware River mostly and fish for huge Striped Bass...the hubby won't fish for anything less than something that big and without that big fight....and they DO put up a huge fight....I'm waiting to get our disposable camera's pics filled up and then you'll see a HUGE one I caught in the spring.  He had to pull it into the boat and pose for the pic with it b/c I couldn't lift it....we catch 'em up to 40" long ......sweet

Okay - i am an Indiana hunter and fisher.....usually fill a doe tag and generally fish for bass (five pound best), bluegill, walleye, and anything else that swims. Happier in the Carribean with a tank and a Hawaiin sling chasing Moby Grouper though......

I haven't ever gone hunting, but as a child I used to enjoy fishing with my dad.  I caught a huge perch once. It was the biggest one my dad has seen anyway.

We'd also catch fish we called "Sheep heads". They weren't good to eat, but sure were fun to catch.

I haven't caught anything big hear latley. Mostly small perch and bass. Hope to get to go soon. I mainly like fishing in the spring when the wheather is warmer.

I don't like to hunt. To much of an animal lover.

I know we are all free to be and do what we like in our country, but I cannot ever envision wanting to kill a beautiful living creature for fun and sport"How sad.

One time I was starting target practicing and a rabbit was close by, my husband said, "Shoot it". I aimed at that rabbit and I learned then that I would never be able to hunt. I love my cheeseburgers but if I had to kill an animal to have one that would be the end of that.

I do like to fish because my Dad started me out when I was little but I haven't caught anything to brag about yet.

I hunt and trap dust bunnies for a living, does that count?  I do not like the sight of blood tho!  My dad was a taxidermist and growing up we had stuffed things all other the house. Ugh!

As I live on Reelfoot lake in Tn, My husband fishes alot, mostly for crappie or bass. I love catfish, and stripped bass.  My son who still lives in Indiana is the big deer hunter. he kills more with a bow then a gun. His biggest one was a 12 pointer. right now it is duck season on the lake, I wake up everymorning to the guns going off...yuck, don't like it and can't wait for it to end. I do not fish or hunt, unless am like teko, dust bunnies. lol I do like to ride in the boat, look at the bald eagles...

Hi Lizzy  I love nature and walks and the woods and the deserts here but I dont have to kill, why not simply go hiking and look around at the beauty we have here and the wonder of all life. I found myself living in Florida at one time trying to rescue the Gopher turtles being ground into the earth with their young so the big contractors could make more money, its not simply about hunting actually if one has to feed a Family I get it , but not simply to kill a beautiful creature beacuse its there, I do appreciate we all have differant values and when you put up a thread like that you are going to get my answers.

I'm a life member of the North American Hunting and Fishing Club.  I deer hunt and fish both.  For me I can only kill the doe's though.  The bucks are to pretty and I feel as if the meat (to me) is not as good.  I shot one doe that was bigger than my husbands 10 point.  For me hunting is like grocery shopping.  I also cried about the first one I shot years ago.
It is getting harder each year though to hunt due to health reasons.  If I don't go out though I usually do the butchering.  We make our steaks, burgers, breakfast sausage, roast, jerky and chops out of dear meat.  I don't care for cow meat as much unless it is almost fat free.  Deer meat is much more healthier.  I'm a meat hunter; not a sport hunter.  The skins are tanned then.

Most of our veggies and sauces are all grown and canned here at home.  Fruits I buy locally and can.

As for fishing I like to go to lake Erie when the steel heads are running.  I like coho salmon too.  Very tasty.  Locally we fish for brook trout and bass basically.  Walleye and salmon are my favorites though.  My biggest fish was the one that got away.  LOL

Sometimes I just like to lay back in the woods while hunting or in the boat though and take in alllll of the beauty that God has given us.  Though I can get very upset to see such beauty destroyed or taken advantage of.  Good, bad or indifferent though that's Me.  ;-)

there is alot of beauty in the world and i understand that some dont like to kill and tell the truth i used to be like that its just an experiance for me but i make sure that what i kill looks like its old not the ones that are so young that barley have had time to live alot of people kill little ones because they call it tender well i dont belive in that i look at the size and since i hunt bucks i count the number of antlers and how old they are i dont kill does because they are what give life to those beautiful babies

Hi margypops
I understand how you feel; yet, do you understand that without hunting (if it did not exist) that in most places due to human population the deer population would become so large that the deer would die slowly and painfully due to starvation.  Hmmmm....Just a thought.

I hit a 17 point buck with my car once... and didn't even leave a scratch but killed the deer!

I like fishing, but always make sure I get the hook out of the mouth and then put them back.

I know, I'm a sucker..lol

oh.. forgot to add.. we have 51 acres and won't allow hunting.. I love to watch the deer in my yard and when I hear people hunting close to our house I go out there with a blow horn..ahahaha..

They can hunt all they want.. just not on my land.. now if the deer travel off our land then that is another story! I can't protect them somewhere else.

Oh I would love 51 acres of land and Deer on them to look at , actually I have seen deer even round Beverly Hills but not on acres of land just hanging out on a quarter acre of expense... I think that must be wonderful.
