Alexandrite, but that's not one of the choices.  My high school class ring is a synthetic Alexandrite and it's cut so it sparkles different colors.  What's neat about Alexandrite is that it changes color depending on the light.

For the choices I picked Jade because there's something nice about green.  I personally don't like all the slavery and cruety involved in mining diamonds.  If it weren't for that, then maybe I'd like diamonds better.

I agree about having more options, but for some reason when I said to add more options - it wouldn't give me the boxes to type the other options as well as just other.  I think Medhelp was having some problems earlier today.

Wow, everyone's been posting some very fun threads lately!!!  =D

HelpInUtah, I wish you had another choice up there like "others"!!  None of the gems that you mentioned are my faves!!!  My big time favorite gems are the Tanzanite and the London Blue Topaz!!  For anyone that doesn't know, the London Blue Topaz is a deeper blue, than what you normally see in the stores.  In fact, I haven't seen any jewelry store carry it.  The more typical topaz is more of a very light to med-light blue.  Tanzanite CAN be found in stores, but they are usually the junky ones!  They have them in a very light bluish-purple stone.  My favorite Tanzanite are the deep rich blue-purple ones.  Those are the rare, high quality gems that you, most likely, won't find in a store.  They are absolutely gorgeous!!  They are also much more expensive than a diamond!

To go with the poll, I do like certain pearls-the golden Southsea Pearl and I like black pearls!  =D

I'm a big fan of pearls. I  wore all pearl, gold, and rinestone jewelry at my wedding.  Pearls, calla lilies and roses.  Pure romance if you ask me.

That is called being aware!!!
It's just like fur, I don't wear it and I dunno how many coats I have been spraying with good ole red or apple green graffiti paint in my younger days!!!
BTW Zircos are waaaaaaay nicer than diamonds.

I agree with you.  I have been watching Jewelry TV and they have a lot of beautiful gems and Tanzanite is the most expensive even more than diamonds.  It's because it's so dangerous to mine.  They are beautiful, but man - they say many people die every year mining them and don't get paid much for it either.  So sad.  I do love diamonds, but when I got married I had hubby get me a zirconia (lab created) because they are just as beautiful!  Nobody knows my ring is not a real diamond!  Well, I guess now you do!  LOL!!!!

None of the above!!! I love turquoise and lapis lazuli, One big advantage, I like the cheap stuff!!! Mostly on markets...
NOOOOOOOO diamonds for me. When I come to think that at least one kid under the age of 12 died for me to wear a ring it makes me puke!!! Sorry girls!!!

I think diamonds are beautiful, I like them as well as shiny crystals. Another reason that I like diamonds is because my birthday is in April and it is the birthday stone of that month. :)
