She asked for a divorce and in return he chopped her head off.  Word has it that it was suppose to be an "honor killing".  I hope he will get the death penalty.  I hope he does not disappear like the muslim father in TX who killed his two beautiful daughters because they became "to western".  He booked out and nobody can't find him.

Yes all that is true but every parent who brings their children up to respect society and live a moral life style and work hard when they become adults is contributing. I honestly have more in common with the values system of my grandparents that some of the people in the family who are of the generation before me, some of whom in the 60's were hippies and grew up in the counterculture and the like. Yes they outgrew it but not completely. I think parents that teach their children a sense of respect and self control are contributing positively to America. The crime rate in N.Y.C. is actually relatively low now and when I first came back here to stay in the early 90's it was the highest it had ever been and remember we were where 9-11 occured directly. I see more of a sense of unity here then there was before and more of a sense of respecting the law. It some ways things have improved. Its a matter of pulling out of the reccession and yes that will be tough but if we have a common sense of self preservation and support for each other we can do it as a nation.

I agree it's very much a question of how we were raised and how we raise our children.  I am really proud to say that my children have been raised to understand that nothing is for free, and you should expect respect if you show respect to another.  

The thing that worries me is it's not only the ones that "have not" now that are desperate.  It's friends like mine who have been making a really good living for years and all of the sudden, have no income and are losing their retirement.  They are freaking out!  We have police officer recently that stole money from the police department to make to pay for medical bills, etc., because his family member has cancer and his insurance doesn't cover them completely.  He is going to jail now.  

It's really all just a sad situation we are in now.  I am glad to see how people are economizing.  Maybe this is our generations lesson on how we should live.
