Favorite Vacation

I would like to start a thread about your favorite vacation memory. Mine was of the trip my wife and I took with our daughters and our neice to Disney World. It was so much fun. We lost my neice to a motor vehicle accident 2 years ago so those memories will always be the best ones for me.

No favorite memory is silly!!!  Most of my other favorite memories are of quiet times in a lake cottage with my family complete with fishing, swimming and camp fires.  Your vacation sounds like one I would have loved too!

This may sound silly compared to some of your experiences, but....

Two summers ago my mom, sister, and I (plus my 3 kids) wanted to go on vacation together and my sis suggested Gatlinburg, TN.  I was skeptical, but it turned out to be my favorite vacay ever!!

Highlights were tubing, horsebacking riding, and of course the *beautiful* scenery.  We got to see elk and a black bear in the National Park, a priceless memory for my then 2 1/2 year old son.
I would've skipped DollyWood, though.

We are planning to go back (my hubby and I and kids) when our youngest is three.

i have two good ones. one was when when i was right out of college. my boyfriend and i had entered some wierd contest through triple a and had won a all expense paid trip on the ss roterdam. it was 10 heavenly days in the carraibean. we had gone to st martin, st thomas, bermuda and jamaica. We had more fun on tha trip. the other was our 3rd wedding anniversary my husband surprised me with tickets to hawaii . his parents lived out there, so we didn't have to spend alot of money. there was so much to see and do it was hrd to get it all in. but myfavorite part was when we went and surfed the pipeline. well we tried anyhow. then we stopped in cal. to see his brother and went dirt bike riding in the desert, that was fun.

First, let me say that I'm sorry for your loss Dallasfan . . . that is tragic.  I'm glad you have fun memories to help you through.

I DO love this thread-----  fun to hear others idea of fun, fun to remember your own fun, and fun to think of the day I'll travel again when my kids are a big older and it will be fun again . . .

My favorite trip was to London and Scottland.  My then boyfriend, now husband and I went together and about 6 months prior to that trip----  we had looked at engagement rings and I knew it was coming at some point.  I was getting a titch impatient for this engagement to finally happen and thought that maybe. . . just maybe . . . he would do it while on this trip to the UK.  So, he had a meeting the first morning we were there and I was left by myself . . . I didn't see the ring (I promise) but I DID see the box.  Later that day we went on a tour of the city and went by the 'fountain of eros' which legend has it if you ask your love to marry you at midnight, you are destined for happiness . . . well at least that is what the guy with the microphone on the bus said.  I saw my husbands eyes light up . . . so the next day I had an idea what was coming while pretending I did not.  Nothing on that day went right for my poor husband.  It is a laughable story in itself----  but I kept the smile on my face all day and tried to act as if all was normal.  He acted stranger than I've ever seen him and very nervous but I ignored this.  Finally at about 2 minutes to midnight as we looked out a pub window at absolutely pouring down rain----  he took my hand and we ran out the door to that fountain.  With the skies opening up with thunder and lightening and buckets of rain, he got down on one knee and proposed.  I couldn't even hear him but that was okay.
So, that is my favorite vacation memory followed by a wonderful couple days in Scottland----  one of the coolest places I've ever been.  And yes, the legend is true----  we are happy. Thanks for reminding me about that great memory!

used to take a weekend long motorcycle trips around NY state every year with friends.  and one to Virginia.  This was for nothing more than to get away from everything.  This was fun till everyone else started finding those, things,  I think they're called females, and getting married and having kids....  I don't think any one of use have a motorcycle anymore :-(

My husband and I took a trip to Antigua for our 5 year wedding anniversary.  It was outstanding!  I also think back fondly on my summers going to church camp - lots of fellowship, friendship, and boyfriends!
