Well, Swampy's Mom wants to get some "grab animals" -- little stuffed animals for babies to grab and drool all over as they get the ability to do that. Swampy lives near a Babies R Us store which will probably have all that stuff.
swampy, are you limited to clothing and not toys?
Light colors, cotton only. The rest is too hot and doesn't breathe. I like the idea of diaper covers or something that will keep her little legs from chaffing from rubbing together as she crawls.
Light hats are also a cut idea. Avoid sleeveless if possible, some moms are not diligent about sunscreen and that little extra bit of fabric may be helpful.
I have a new niece as well, first girl I have ever gotten to buy for! I had a blast last Christmas before she was even born. This year we bought a cute little camo outfit my boys picked from Cabela's as well as a few toys.
your a good man swampy very thoughtful
Well, turned out a little easier than expected, and a little harder.
The bast place in town for baby clothes turned out to be a little family run shop. The woman there was most helpful, except being that this is winter, she didn't carry anything with matching bonnet (she did have hats, but they were cold hats, not really shade hats).
Swampy got a really pretty blue / white cotton twirl dress, and a two piece yellow patterned dress of the sale rack. Its nice colors for where she lives.
Then above the counter are the little Santa suits. Swampy ended up buying her a little Santa red dress with candy canes on it and white leggings.
Total cost for everything was about $80. Swampy doesn't know if that is typical or not.
(Then he bought his sister in law sterling silver earrings in the next store, but that is a different note).
Swampy!1 get everything in cotton and you cant go wrong!! You can even get little fabric sandles and shes not walking, and they do look so cute! Knee length nickers and matching top, there are total sets that you can buy too.
dont forget the little sun hats!! What a lucky bub to get lots of pressies from uncle Swampy!!
Hi Swampy. I think your the best uncle in the world. How sweet is it that your picking out baby clothes for your little niece! I agree with above posts, cotton is very comfortable and if she lives in a warm climate then little dresses are a great idea. There's such cute clothes for little girls out there. 60 years without a girl in the family, wow! She needs to be very spoiled! Ha ha. We went almost 30 years without a girl in our family and I thought that was a long time. Have fun shoping for you little niece. Take care. Remar
me too Margie, the new brown with turquoise combo is nice, I had all boys so when my sister had a daughter I was so happy, shes all tomboy, only wore dresses as a baby !!!
Wow 60 years ago , so all boys? My lot like the little leggings and tops they are easy to change , pretty dresses out there , cotton definatly .,I love the new colors , brown and beige and polka dots .
Yeah, Swampy realizes that he is going to have to pick out color and style for mom.
The bonnet idea will be acted on, as the sun there is very bright.
The last girl born in Swampy's family was over 60 years ago.
Swampy, its been a while but us moms dont like clothes that make it difficult to change diapers, like the pull on overalls with no buttons at the crotch ,also, cotton or a cotton blend is cool, easy to wash and gentle on babys skin. Most moms enjoy getting colors that arent too stereotypical, u can only have soo many cute pink dresses, try some other colors,My rule of thumb for most babies is to double their age for clothes so 12 months will likely fit her around 6-9 months, she will be crawling then .babies look adorable in cute sun dresses as above said, try to find cute matching bonnet so she avoids sun . What a fun thing to shop for enjoy.
Dont get any clothes with alot of buttons!!! I bet they have some really cute little sun dresses.
