Our Little Quirks :)

Ok, we all have them. Let's spill it. What are some of your little quirks? I got to thinking about this as I'm sneaking into the Easter candy and realized that I eat the Skittles and Jelly Beans by color groups, lol. I also will search a whole tortilla bag for the chips with the most salt or the one with the bubble. I like the bubble. :)

Anybody else?

Then you'd hate me because it seems like I'm always late, lol. I try, honest I do!

Well, I do have OCD (mild now) so I have my quirks.

When I eat any meal, I finish one food before moving to the other, saving my favorite for last.  The only exception to this is when I'm eating out.

When cleaning my house, it has to be done in a certain way or my skin will literally crawl.  Luckily DH accepts it and does it, but if my mom is here and she wants to help, she doesn't follow my "instructions"-drives me crazy!

In my vehicle, I keep the a/c & heat on an even number, never an odd number.  Same goes for the volume of my radio.

That is all I can think of right now.

I alphabetize all my DVDs.
The cans and jars in my kitchen cabinets all have to have the labels facing the front so I can read them.
I have to make my handwriting perfect all the time, whether I'm writing a letter or something on a notecard or my whiteboard at work. My letters and spacing between words has to be perfect, or I get uneasy. Same with reading other people's stuff, and if they mess up there/their/they're and its/it's, etc, and use more than three periods to make an elipses...or instead use multiple commas,,,,,
Oh my gosh that drives me absolutely insane, but I never say anything. I just find it disturbing to my eyes to read.
I also go nuts about people driving in cars and going from stop to go through a light. If people paid attention to when the light turns green and the car in front of them, and let off their brake at the same time as the car in front of them, and accelerated at the same time as the car in front of them, then lots more people would get through a light because it would be a line moving as one unit, like a train. But noooo, people wait for the car in front of them to let off the brake and drive a few feet forward before they even think about letting off their own brake and accelerating to get through the light, and cause gaps in the line. Ugh, it drives me CRAZY.
I'm weird and I know it.

AJH84, I just saw a documentary about equally spaced magnetic points in roads that would let cars accelerate and brake simultaneously, with very little spacing between  them, just like a train. Maybe there is hope for you, haha.
My quirks are probably eating manners and esthetics. I can not sit anywhere without rearranging small objects so they have a certain distance to each other. It has to have some kind of Zen touch to it with emptiness and accents. Hard to explain, and yes, it is ridiculous. A pet peeve, rather than quirk, is eating manners. I was raised old style and when I look around, I feel transplanted into animal kingdom. You see, I am not a very relaxed person :)

The Gravy from my mashed potatos cannot leave the potatos and must remain on them . .not the veggies.

Ha ha, ChitChatNine, I'm the same way! I have to make the little hole in the mashed potatoes deep enough that the gravy will stay there. It drives me nuts to have it go all over the plate!

YIKES, well, I when I post, I like to end my day by having the number of posts either end in 5 or 0, I don't know why, it just makes me feel good.

Sometimes I will alphabetize my clothes, not much anymore though, but, what I mean, I will go by colors, what ever color starts with an A and so forth will be first in the closest. Like I said, I have stopped that now, it got to confusing and too stressful.

You have heard of the "Odd Couple", well, I am Felix, and I tend to pick up after others, I am working on that though.

Guess that is it, it is hard to admit some things, but sort of fun at the same time. :)

I'm sure I have many quirks.  I'm autistic, (PDD-NOS).

Despite the fact I'm twenty-four years old, I have a small monkey stuffed animal that must be with me at all times.  I cannot be without it.  :)

When I eat cookies with frosting (Oreo-type), I like to scrape out the frosting, ball it up and eat it last.  If I eat chocolate-chip cookies, I like to pick out the chips and eat them last.
Reece's Pieces -- the peanut butter part last.
Ice cream w/ chocolate/ chocolate filled cups - those parts last.

Nuts in ice cream - I pick them out and eat them on the spot.  I am not sure why I do that. I think part because I save best parts for last and part because I prefer an even texture, but I really like the chocolate parts.

Frosting filled donuts (haven't eaten any in a lo-o-ong time), I'll spoon out the frosting and place it in a cup to eat last.  One advantage: I don't get a mouthful of frosting when I bite into one)

I need to have my items such as my video games grouped together just the right way or it drives me crazy. I also can't stand sloppy handwriting if it was created by myself. If my handwriting looks sloppy, I will re-write it or type it up in order to fix the "mess". Oh, and another thing. I believe it goes back to when I was going through Elementary- Middle School, but I'm kind of worried when other people touch my video games. I just don't know why I'm like that. Maybe I think they will break them or steal them or something like that. In School I have been bullied continuously every single day and I believe that caused me to be like this. It might have also caused my social phobia. I'm not sure. These are all that I can think of right now.

When I am eating anything I must save the best for last.  On a plate I must rotate between the foods and divide them evenly having my favorite be the last thing I eat.  My favorite donut is a bostom cream.  I eat all around the outside and save the cream for last.

It drives me nuts to have any kind of sore, zit, dried skin, etc. on my body that is not flat - I must scrape it off and causes me lots of scarring and blood.  I can't stop this!

I cannot sleep unless I lay on my left side first for a few minutes then I roll over to my right.

I am very particular about loudness and temperature.  I will continually adjust sound up or down to my perfect spot and in the car the temperature and fan is always being adjusted to keep me just right.  This drives others crazy.

I only eat green m&m's.
I have to eat the crust off my sandwhiches then finish them by eating at it in a perfect square.
I have to wash my hair everyday.
I alphabetiz my canned goods, dvd's, and dry boxed goods.
I hate when people don't remove their shoes at the door.
I never answer my phone unless it's my dh, I let people leave a message then I call them back.
I read at least 3 books at once.(I have to have more than one book going at a time, or I get bored)
I have a really bad habit of remove my leg hairs with tweezers...I know I'm crazy.  I'll go a week without shaving just so I can do this.

April:  I'm with you about prefering the bubble in the chip.  Except in my case, the chip is plain Lay's.  I also search the bag for the bubbled ones.  My very favorite of all, is when two or more chips are stuck together!

PrettyKitty1:  Regarding M&M's, I use to pick out the brown ones.  They were my favorite of all.  When they replaced it with another color, I was really upset about it! Lol  Now, I had the delima of being "forced" to choose another favorite and I DIDN'T WANT TOO!  I wanted my brown M&M......so, I went to the orange one. :  (

I'd say one of my quirks would be:
1. People who drop by unannounced.
2. My mom-in-law taking every single holiday and feeling offended when I would like to do a holiday.

I pay all of my daily expenses - meals, groceries, tips etc with cash so I usually have many bills with me. My money has to be folded with all of the bills arranged with the same side showing and facing in the same direction and in ascending order - the smallest denominations visible on the outside and the highest denomination $100s on the inside. I am obsessive about this and, after receiving change, I must arrange the bills properly before I can leave the establishment.
My belt must match my shoes (in color and usually in material - suede shoes with a suede belt, for example) and my shirt color must match my socks color - black, brown, blue, blue, yellow and ecru.

I have the same issue with my shoes and belt or shoes and shirt.  I must match all those and also match my socks with my shirt.  I clean homes for people and my hat must match my shirt and shoes.  This may sound crazy but at least I know that there is someone else as crazy about it as I.

I'm the same way with my money.  I think it comes from working in a bank all through hs and college.  I hated it when people left their teller drawers in disarray.  I used to audit the drawers every month...it was absolute torture going through some of those drawers...

It's comforting to learn that my compulsive behavior is not as uncommon as I had believed it was.
