Oh my gosh! When I posted this question I had no idea there would be so many responses and such touching stories.
Thank you all so much for sharing. I've read every one of your stories and some of them brought tears to my eyes and some put a big smile on my face. Big hugs to all of you! Remar
Judy,
Oh I am soooo sorry for your loss....Things may not get better but they will get easier with time..
Please Take Care...Theresa
One more story still pending. The most precious thing I have loss was not a thing, but someone more precious than my own life, my mother. When my mother died in my arms on 7/19/10, I wanted to die and be with her. I didn't know how to live without her and her death brought me to my knees. My loss loss has been life changing, I'm still waiting to meet up with her when God calls my name :)
My fiance gave me my engagement ring and matching diamond earrings. Well, I dropped one of the earrings somewhere. I went nuts!!! I turned the house inside out and took my room apart...no luck.
Months have passed and I was doing laundry and grabbed my load in a basket and began to walk away when I heard a pound coming from the dryer. Opened the lid and WHALA there was my diamond earring (In the basement and my apartment is on the second floor). To me it was a miracle and I felt my guardian angel heard my daily plead for that earring :)
That is something that had crossed me mind!LOL Dont think it would be the best thing to meet and fall in love while Im over there!! LOL although from what Iv seen in the movies, American guys are hot!!! Way better that the Irish lads, believe me!!!! LOL
Yes you would have missed Alaska and the next big voyage in your life ,hey have you thought you may meet a handsome American and want to be an American /Irish Gal ..I am an American /Brit
Not packing at the mo!!!! Im not leaving for another 3 months so iv plenty time, but yes, life does suck at times but its all about hoping and praying you will get through it.... I know I was about ready to throw in the towel at one point but so so glad I didnt!!!!
There you go Jade you were repaid at least in kind ,and it sounds like he was also repaid , and you got your ring ..Life does get in the way sometimes doesnt it Jennifer ,your trip to Alaska will help get you up and running ....thats for sure, are you packing yet ?
Lost my will to live there for a bit!!!! Thank God I have just about found it!!!!!! And see life differently, in a better way!!!!!
No, we didn't report him, but we did tell his dad who was paying his sons rent. The dad was actually a well known car racer. He knew his son was a flake and we found out the son ended up in jail in Texas. It was okay though because that guy left every single thing he owned and never returned so we kept what we could use and sold the rest, lol....
Oh thats a good story Jade and also a sad one to imagine anyone would steal something that would cause anguish to others I hope he got reported ..
I was given a beautiful ring by a boyfriend in 1980. Six yrs later, I was now with my husband, but of course I still had this beautiful ring and would wear it occasionally. We lived in my husbands condo and to save money, we were renting a room out to a 19yr old. One day, there was an incident and our renter disappeared. Shortly after, I went to put on my ring and it was gone! I knew our renter had stolen it! On a whim, my husband and I went across the street to the pawn shop hoping our renter was dumb enough to pawn it there. Well, he WAS and it was there! Renter was SO dumb he had even given a copy of his drivers license, lol. Even though I had to pay to get it back, I gladly did so and it's still in my jewelry box to this day.
So True doesnt it astound you how many times we lose our rings then they turn up again , I heard of a woman losing her wedding ring and it turned up in the drain years later .
you're so right, specialmom... those personalized treasures do something for the
spirit and the soul... they carry us back to happy place in time... they're priceless!
I agree Butterfly, that was a great story.
I lost, but didn't know it, a box of letters and cards from my past. I was cleaning and found this decorated box and about jumped up and down. In it were notes, letters and cards from some very dear people to me. From my grandma and grandpa, some old friends, and most importantly from my mom who died 15 years ago. It is amazing how much someone's handwriting can take you back in time. I felt like the little girl I once was that was truly loved by her mama again.
thanks Marg... I believe that to be true.
That was a sad/wonderful thing you experienced butterfly ,losing a love then finding one ,I like that I have seen your Pics on your profile you look as if you are meant to be together, I expect your previous love is smiling at you both ...
I lost my engagement ring 2 months before my wedding, and found it 3 days before we tried the knot....but the most important thing we ever lost but found again was the ability to laugh together. we used to have so much fun and the years kinda took it away from us...we're finding it again now, and I hope we never lose it again because it's the best way to get through tough times!
I took off my engagement ring at a park to put tanning lotion on - set it next to me on a blanket and then completely forgot about it - two hours later I shook off my blanket and drove to the mall - looking at my hands on the steering wheel - i realized my ring was missing and suddenly remembered what I had done ----- I turned around and went back to the park - I was frantic - I had five or six people digging through the grass looking for my ring --- and some nice man found it for me - I cried and still how lucky I am to have found it!
Love.
On the evening of December 28th 2006, I lost the love of my life when he died from a massive heart attack. Four months after his death, I met the man who would eventually become the current love of my life. I strongly believe that my deceased boyfriend sent the current boyfriend to me.
My sanity. Don't ask, it's a LOOOOOONG story!
What a wonderfull story. Hope you have another 32 happy years together.
