Favorite vacation spot

So where is everyone's favorite vacation spot? And what is fun/good to do there?

I'm looking for ideas either for this summer or next summer. Also, any suggestions for a honeymoon location? We're thinking of Hawaii, but not totally set on it yet. :)

The Bahamas are great sand and beaches .. Alaska sounds good ..I would like Israel at the moment ..they need tourists to support them ,If I didnt need to return to see family thats where I would go ..

We probably won't be going to Mexico, but are still thinking of Hawaii. Maui is the island we'd most likely go to. I've been keeping an eye on the deals that are offered online for trips there and some aren't bad at all. A cruise to Alaska would be beautiful, but I really like warm weather. Summer time in Oregon was a bit cold for me at times, so I would imagine Alaska would be much cooler than that. Lake Tahoe is fun, but I've already been there a few times since I live in California and want to go somewhere new. The Bahamas look great, but I'm not sure about it.

Maui is perfect for a honeymoon destination. I love it!  It's so laid-back...the beaches are beautiful. My daughter is also getting married next summer and considering Lake Tahoe, Jackson hole, Wy. or Colorado for the wedding. She wants an outside ceremony. We live in Tx and her fiance is from Alaska so those places would be a compromise + beautiful surroundings.

My husband and I honeymooned in Mexicol, Cola de Caballo (Horsetail Falls) not far from Monterrey but that was 40 yrs ago and a beautiful place.  I'd love to go back but now Mexico is not safe almost anywhere so please be careful if you consider going there.

You could always consider a cruise to Alaska.

We do definitely want to go to Italy, but just not totally sure on how affordable it is. We haven't really looked into it much yet. I'll have to do that later.

We live in Southern California and have both been to SF a few times, so it's not all that exciting to go there again. I want to go out of California for the honeymoon, though we vacation in San Diego and other Calif places for fun just as regular vacations.

Your kayaking adventure seems similar to mine had been in Hawaii, not the best experience. We went on a cloudy day and had been thankful for not being in the blistering/humid heat, up until we got to this point up the river and heard a tour guide say they were heading back because the dam at the top of this river was reaching it's holding point and it was safer to just go back. Well my dad didn't want to return and wanted to wait it out. Bad idea! We watched some full tree trunks float pass us in the rising water before we could talk him into going back. Creepy, but we all made it back safely. When we went again 2 days later and actually made it to the waterfall, it was much nicer and much more fun. lol

My friend just went to Ireland for the summer and says it's beautiful there. We kept telling her to meet a guy there, like in the movie PS I Love You. haha. I think that would be another great place to visit.

We are pretty much planning on Hawaii for the honeymoon next summer. We're thinking of going to Maui or maybe the big island. And for this summer are looking into deals to go to Mexico, even though he is hesitant about it and doesn't want to go back(he was born and raised there), but I still want to go. I'll see if I can talk him into it.

Ahhhhh . . . vacation.  A lovely thought!  Since we have had kids, vacation has not been something I get to do often or in an exciting way.  Oh well . . . I do have my memories!

I too loved Hawaii.  Food is awesome, weather is great, it is very fun and quite beautiful.  It is on the expensive side is probably it's only drawback.

Italy is one of my dream trips as is Ireland.  I've been to neither and really want to go sometime!!

We honeymooned . . . dare I say it . . . in Aruba.  Poor Aruba.  It was one of the best times of my life and now no one can think beyond the tragedy there.  If you can get past that, it really is a great spot and we want to go back.

The land of romance is good----------  France.  I had a wonderful time there and Paris is a beautiful and romantic city.  But . . . if Italy is your dream, do that first.

Depending where you live, San Francisco is fun.  If you live that way (I'm trying to remember where you are from Sweetpea) it might not be too exciting.  But I had a great time there.  And we went to the wine country for 3 days during that trip which was wonderful.  Like the wine country.

Someday I'll tell you my kayaking story in Hawaii . . .  let's leave it at dear husband pushed our kayak as hard as he could to get us going and unfortunately it was into a wave and as the kayak with me in the front of it was going straight up in the air, I hear him yell "get out! get out!"  I didn't drown but considered drowning him for not watching the waves better as he was launching us.  We laugh about that to this day.  Good times.

I really want to go to Italy, but I'm not sure how affordable that would be for us. I've been to Hawaii before, as a child, and just think it's gorgeous there. We went kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, etc and I would love to do that again. Though I also would love to go to Italy or the Bahamas. :)
