Touch ..... I guess cause I'm not fond of textures. But maybe taste ... then again how could I enjoy eating .. hmmmm GREAT POLL!
It would be tough for me - it's between taste and smell. Smells are either really good for me or horrible! I have an extremely sensitive nose and there are times I can't handle it! But, smell warns us of danger like fire, etc. So, I suppose it would be taste. But, bad smells really bother the heck out of me! LOL!!!!
I would give up taste. Food isnt that important to me. Its all about texture!! I thought about giving up smell but the thought of never smelling a newborn baby again changed my mind.
Sense of smell for sure! While that wouldn't be a picnic, I personally, think it's the best option...at least for me ;-)
Giving up your sense of taste, would make eating a chore, as you would get no satisfaction out of it, and I think therefore, would become an unpleasant task. I enjoy food, and look forward to eating it. Food, and the act of eating and sharing it, is a highly social thing, and giving up that sense of taste, I think, would therefore alter social interactions greatly in a negative fashion.
I would give up tast, thereby eating right for a change and probably save a lot of money in the process and as a result, now diets.
I'd have to say vision. My eyes don't work so well anyways. Plus, you can always find other ways to see things.
Take away your hearing, you never hear a sound again.
Take away your sense of touch, you never know what it would be like to feel anything again--that could be dangerous.
Take away your smell and chances are, you'd lose your sense of taste along with it.
Take away your sense of taste, there would be no satisfaction left in eating anything.
But losing your sight--every other sense you have can give you a visualization. I don't think you can compensate your other senses as much as you can with your sight.
I do think that if I had to give up one of my senses I'd chose vision. I could give up taste/scent too but it would leave me quite unsatisifed. Everything - even lemons or strawberries wouldn't taste nothing but ... nothing. I'd rather give up my vision. I haven't seen everything there is in this world yet but I could still feel it, hear it, smell it and even taste it. Where one sense goes, the others do compensate and it has always been fascinating how it works. I have nohing to stress about so I'd leave my vision.
Smell..... I would hate not to taste my food, but can do without smelling it..lol
looks like taste is unaminous..I love to smell sweet flowers a new baby etc,,,seeing and hearing wow need them and some people do have a rare disorder where they cannot feel anything thus they break bones burn themselves etc..Id go with taste for sure,,,and like you said wed all be healthier, thiner too.
Thank You, I'm glad you have enjoyed my poll. :)
Yes, I was thinking of that too. We wouldn't be able to taste if the food that we were eating was spoiled or tampered with and that is one of the really bad downsides of not being able to taste. Although I have heard that if you lose one sense, you other ones become stronger, so maybe you could be able to smell the difference if the food was spoiled or tampered with.
I believe that even though the sense of taste is important, it isn't nearly as important as the others. So that is why I have chose this one. :)
What an interesting poll!! You made me think over here!!! LOL I also voted for Taste, because the other senses were way too important for me to ever give up. Taste, I would be willing to sacrifice. I was thinking along the same lines as Please Help-eating healthy, despite some nasty tasting food. Another bonus, I'd be able to get rid of the extra 15 lbs that I've put on. LOL In reality, this is truly a double-edged sword, if you think about it, because we rely on our sense of taste to warn us of eating foods that have been contaminated or gone bad, or possibly even poisoned. Did either of you think of that? I am a complete paranoid lunatic over spoiled food-if something is even a little "off", that food is gonna be trashed. LOL The sense of taste would be very hard to lose, but it's the lesser evil of the other four senses. I can't deal with losing the other senses!
Thank You!!!! :) I thought that this would make an interesting poll. I'm glad you enjoyed it! :)
Well, I said "Taste" you see, the other senses are so important to me. If you lost your hearing, you would not hear your loved ones speak, pretty music, the sound of nature, or alarm signals for approaching danger. If you could not see, oh my, that would be the worse, you would be living in total "darkness" you would no longer see all the beauty the Lord has given us, in fact, without vision, you are incapacitated in my opinion. Without smell, you would not smell the flowers, good things baking, and, you could sort of cheat and even "taste" some as if you cannot smell, you cannot taste. Without touch, you would not be able to feel the hug of a loved one, a babies tender touch, stroking your dog or cat.
Anyway, this was my vote, very interesting poll.
I would give up taste because I believe that it is the less important sense. I believe without taste I would also be able to eat healthier due to not being able to taste the food. Any food would be good then, and I wouldn't have no reason to eat the non-healthy but taste-good food. :)
