Many, many years ago, when I was married to the first Mr. Peek, we decided we would fire up the old grill on the back porch, after not using it for many months (it was a gas grill).

Thank GOD we opened the grill first, before turning the gas on and igniting it.

Upon opening the grill, we were taken a bit aback to see it was completely stuffed with leaves.  Completely.  While we stood speechlessly contemplating who and why our grill was packed with leaves, a rustling commenced from the leaf pile.  A squirrel chittered angrily and proceeded to shoot out the bottom of the grill (there are some big holes under the grill, like for drainage or something).

She ran away up a nearby tree, and agitatedly screamed at us while jumping from branch to branch.  It then dawned on us that the grill was a nest...as evidenced by more rustling and a couple of teeny eyes peering up at us.

We left the grill open and retreated back into the house.  Mamma squirrel took advantage of our departure to hastily return and collect her babies--two very tiny squirrel, old enough to have their eyes open and fully covered with hair.

She took each on in her mouth and ran them up the tree, one by one.   We left the grill unused for a long time after that, but she never returned.

I always think of that every time I open up a grill now.

Not me!!! Though you can cook FOR me! That'd be nice. Because I HATE cooking!!! I love to bake, but not cook. And I love food prep (heck, I wanted to be a sous chef) but... not cooking!

Enough of my rambling...

My family and I will be over tomorrow. I do prefer charcoal vs gas grills. LOL! :) Also, my steaks ... Medium please...same for my hubby and yes my 22month old LOVES steak! I will do side dishes if you like. I can make some awesome stuff myself...and if we aren't too full I will make dessert.
