Your Favourite Toy when you were a child

My 21 year old daughter came for a visit last weekend. We spent pretty much all of that time sorting out her old soft toys, books, Barbies etc.
Got me to thinking.....What was YOUR favourite toy as a child....do you still have it?
I personally loved the Slinky! Would play with it for hours! I wasn't a doll girl..give me the technical stuff, like a microscope, or a telescope, or a book on geology and I was a happy little pig in mud!
Let me know yours!

When I was little I loved Holly Hobbie.I had the coolest Holly Hobbie stove.I liked this yellow victorian dollhouse my Dad made for me.As I got older I loved basketball,my brother and I played everyday,we were poor sports and threw the basketball at each others heads. Those were the days!!!! I liked Transformers and chemistry sets,I remember throwing a bunch of chemicals together and made a rust remover,it spilled on this older undrivable rusty car,and the rust came right off.I couldn't remember how I made it.I did have Barbies too,but my best friend and I would paint her fingernails and would paint nimples on Barbie. We were little,it was fun.A great subject! I remember when television was black and white, and we were not allowed to watch except the Sunday movie of the week where Mom made home made potato chips and Koolaid, or a rootbeer float and we all sat down to watch. Other than that I absolutely loved to pick on my younger sister. That was my real pastime.  I love her tho! We are real close now!

I am so pleased this topic got people to remember their childhood! Many of you have reminded me of things I had totally forgotten!  We were dirt poor and had very little to play with. I am the eldest of 7 children and the age difference is huge! My youngest sister now 24 ( I am about to turn 46 on Saturday!) had the Pound Puppies, my other sister had Cabbage Patch dolls. My brother had Tonka trucks.
I tended to stay outdoors for as long as I could. Till it either got too darn cold or too darn late! Amazingly kids just don't play outdoors much. I do see there is a trend to get kids to play sports, but you rarely see kids outdoors playing in their yards anymore. Sad.

My parents got cable right after I, the youngest, moved out of the house.  They always said it was too much $, but I think they really just didn't want to encourage too much TV watching!

I had some computer games and an original nintendo, and I did like those, especially during bad weather.  But I have more memories from other activities.

note none of our favorites were video games or pc games, the reason usa has so many obese kids and the genration of our children has a shorter life expectancy then we do...sad,,we used to play out doors till the street lights came on then it was time to head home, always hot tired and thirsty but we played hard and used our imaginations.

As already mentioned, spirograph, stuffed animals, and lite brite were favorites.  Also, I was a big fan of chalk, I would cover the whole driveway with hop scotch and silly drawings.

This is a tough one! I really loved my Barbie's and her all her fun accessories but I think hands down it would have to be my Light Bright.  I can remember my sister and I sitting there for hours pushing those lights in until our fingers ached.  That was a fun trip down memory lane! : )
