I saw a show on the discovery channel about anachondas and how they found one in the forest trying to eat a man. It only got to his shoulders but the snaked died because he couldn't swallow the man. They said if the snake had just turned the man on his side then he could've swallowed it. Ugh!!!
Not wrong that is creepy taking about biting the hand that feed you, that would have been an understatement eh!!
i dont know anything abotu snakes or reptiles...i could not ever have any..the thoguht gives me the creeps and makes me want to vomit...when my co-worker said this i had chills all over..sounds rather terrifying..i suppose if it were true as some of you say..i cant say it did happen or didnt since well i was not there..i just heard this through a co-worker but scary to think
I have to agree, that does sound very irresponsible to let the "food chain" occur between your friend's pets. Also with the original post, I'd think the moment you let a snake (or any reptile, amphibian, etc) out of its cage it would find some random, possible inaccessible part of the house to stay. In other words, you may not be able to find your pet....or if you do, it may not be where you want it.
Gotta say, that was among the more interesting camping trips.
Not one, but two of Swampy's friends have had a pet snake eat another one of their pets. Swampy thinks that allowing one of your pets to eat the other demonstrates manifest irresponsibility.
I didn't mind camping - until I read your message........... 6 foot snakes and hundreds of black widows?? No thanks
I've seen a boa constrictor (Tazz is her name) eat a live rabbit and that is enough to make me not want to own one. I do not hate them. I love animals. But they're just too..........weird? for my taste :)
The largest Python in the world eats dogs. It lives in a zoo but I don't remember where exaclty. Heh, heh.....a dog........Christ!
I am so happy it isnt true made me feel quite faint when I read the post ! I have had one round my neck havent owned one couldnt take all that feeding..
Thank you. I was deeply puzzled by the story. I have heard of some not so great stories of pythons, but this one sounded a bit far fetched.
Swampcritter, that must be quite a sight to wake up by, lol. I don't think I'd mind it but it would surprise me a little to see that. Most likely I'd want to get my camera out and take a photo.
The reason why snakes crawl into bed with you is that they are cold blooded.
Swampy won't forget a camping trip in Wyoming. Swampy was sleeping out on the ground (no tent). When he awoke, he looked to the side and stretched out about 2 ft away was a very long snake that was about 6ft long. The snake gave Swampy the "hey do you mind, I'm digesting rats!" look.
The snakes weren't the problem at that campgound, but the hundreds of black widows down by the lake. Made going to swim a tricky business.
April:
I didn't think it was true. I used to have 5 snakes and loved them. However, we also have cats and so we never let them just roam and even without the cats I doubt we would have allowed that. Most people realize that it's best to keep their reptiles in an enclosure - it protects the reptile and the owner.
Thanks,
Janet
I checked this out on Snopes (It's a good website for checking to see if a story is a hoax, etc. Go to Snopes.com, spelled out that would be Snopes d o t c o m, in case MH bleeps it out) Fortunately, this story is false. There's been different variations to the story but they're all pretty much the same thing. Snopes said that even though the thought that a snake would measure it's prey before killing it is interesting, it's simply not true.
For more on the story, go to:

So, for you snake lovers, I hope this relieves your minds! I personally don't care for snakes or any reptiles. But I've learned a long time ago to check out every story I get since I have friends who tend to forward me stories all the time. It's a good website to remember. There's other ones out there, like Urban Legends, that's good too, but I personally like Snopes the best.
Hope this puts a lot of people's minds at ease! :)
Holy cow!!!! That is sooooo freaky and creepy! I wouldn't say I hate snakes, but I do dislake them but not totally fearful of them. My worst fear is anything creepy crawly (spiders, incets and WORMS!!!!) But that was some story.
This story is ridiculous, seriously. Anyone who knows anything about reptiles can tell you as much.
We have a ball python but he isn't allowed out of the cage except when cleaning the cage or husband handles him. I would love to get rid of him but my husband had him when we got together.
We also had a 6 foot iguana before we had kids. She died a month before I had my oldest. I hated her and she hated me. I would get chased out of the house on a daily basis. I was happy when she died.
holy smokes, that gives me the creeps, perhaps why they are called *snakes LOL just like any man that does us women dirt are called snakes, because they are sneaky.
no snakes in my house ever my friend had a large snake not sure what kind but it belonged to her 10 year old she had just had a new baby the snake got lose in the house and she still let the baby sleep in bassinet in the 10 yo room I woulda had that baby in bed with me or been staying else wher until the snake was found can you all even believe that a small about 14 lbs 2 mont old OMG
My husband wants a snake. I said nooooooo way, it will eat my babies..lol. He had one before he met me and it died right before I met him. Sorry to say that is the only one he will ever have if I have anything to do with it
well i dont know either i would assume she probably trusted her pet.. the way my co-worker was speaking, she must of had this snake for a while...
I really don't understand why she let him roam free, especially at night, not a good idea.
snakes are scary lol.. i hate snakes and spiders the thought of them make me want to vomit lol..but talk about scary like..you never know 100% snakes are not pets lol
Ahhh that is so creepy. I used to have a boa constrictor, he was about 5 feet long and I never let him roam free, I would never even think to do that. We got rid of him when I got pregnant with Noah, no matter how nice he was I didn't want to risk having him in the house with my baby.
