There are several reforms that might act as term limits.
One would be to require a supermajority to elect longer lasting incumbents. Make it so after your second term, you need 60% of the vote, 70% for the third term, and 80% for the fourth term and beyond.
Term limits gets debated a lot, and was part of the "Contract with America" platform in the 1990s.
Its a very difficult problem. Long service, especially of senators, adds a continuity to the government that would otherwise be carried on by staffers. To Swampy, it means a lot when a senator can remember the debate over a particular bill and talk about it on reauthorization.
Term limited committee chairman is an issue, as people in those positions have much to say over what measures are debated and when.
ou oh sarah gettin all lathered up see i struck a nerve come on people we can do it
I think they should only be allowed a 2 term limit and once they are out they should have to go back into the real world and make their own money and pay for their health care. That is all i am going to say cuz this really chaps my back side!!!!
