Great country ..was going to Cairns once ..still going ,why you asking I think most Americans love the Aussies ...
The closest I came was New Zealand a few months ago. My parents spent 6 weeks there about ten years ago They loved it. The flight is very long from the east coast of Canada.
I have an artist friend who teaches at the University of Tazmania. So, I'd love to visit there, someday. But, thus far... all I know is from I've seen in media images. And, your country
is beautiful!
G'day from a fellow Aussie! I reckon it is so funny when I travel overseas how the Americans especially love us! They kept making me talk all the time, which is ok as I do yabber on anyway!
I have had a few of my Yankee friends come over and they loved it here. I was the same going to US, I loved it there, but when I got back I realised how damn lucky we are to live in such a beautiful and peaceful place.
Bonza mate!
I think i asked the wrong question,i meant what do they know about our country, not us!! I know the americans love us,except a few people thought i was a pom LOL Hey Red Im in the sth east burbs down the peninsula ~~ One fella thought we we had lions and tigers LOL yeah as if we need those with all the snakes and spiders weve got here already!!
When I think about Australia, the first thing that comes to mind is snakes and spiders... Deadly snakes and spiders! I have always wanted to visit Australia, and me and DH said we would for our 5th wedding anniversary, when that came around we pushed it to our 10th and now that is around the corner and we will probably push it off til our 15th wedding anniversary... LOL. Also my DH won't let me go cuz he is afraid I will try to smuggle back a koala or a joey.
ONe American I met was convinced Australia was no bigger than England, I said, Ummm we are actually bigger than the US with an over hang over Canada and Mexico....he didn't believe me, he looked it up and sure enough! Talk about uneducated!
Another US friend believed that everyone has a kangaroo as a pet...sheesh!
dont think your hubby would have to worry you bringing back a koala it would probably claw you to bits, and you have to get past a joey's mum!!
Oh Red!! You are very good at your geography!!
I agree, I do know both are very mean.. He just teases me about it!
People also tend to believe that Austraila is all wilderness just like you see on crocodile dundee, but I know that Austraila has country and City just like the US.
Lol..a Kangaroo as a pet who would want, My Daughters bf just wiped his car out hitting one, every time we drive home at night they jump in front of you..as you know scary stuff..Found one eating the fat off the barbie not that long ago..Dont like them, dont like to eat them, dont like to be hit by them..I say we pack em up and ship them over there:))
so glad its not like croc dundee i would go nuts~~

Hi to all Aussies,I'm in Queensland halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, love living here, don't particularly like kangaroos either,my son nearly lost an eye when one scratched him across the face.I get on skype with a friend over there and he laughs at my accent, but that's ok because I think his is funny too.lol.Got to know him on medhelp too.

I used to live 30kms from Toowoomba 17 yrs ago and I hated living there way too many creepy crawlies and snakes eeww.I also lived in Townville and they have cane toads eeww again and cockroaches about 3/4 inches long and the bats eekkk LOL Now im back in Victoria on the Peninsula and loving it back here and will never live in another state again!!
We also lived in Coffs Harbor, we were at a sanctuary there with a friend her kid was about four, the roos were quite tame but this big one came up to the lil girl and just kept boxing her in the ears, it was unreal, so scarey, but after we got her away, it was the funniest thing ive ever seen..
Had a client i worked for and one came through his front window of his van up that way, It knocked all his teeth out and he was in hospital for ages..
We must have lucky as we travelled from Qld to Vic for years and years by car and never came across one live roo they were all sunbaking on the side of the road pointing their bellies to the sun,and stiff s a board..But a flock of lorrakeets hit the car eeww ..........
Some Americans still think John Howard is our Prime Minister,To everyone Kevin Rudd is the Prime Minister of Australia.
what is a Lorrikeet ? a kind of bird,?I had actually heard that the Prime Minister changed but I didnt really know his name we dont get a lot of Down under news here ...
Well ye do great tv!! Home and away is very big in Ireland!!!! Ye love it, plus ye're accents are class!!!!!! Would trade you my Irish accent for yours anyday :-)
oh Jennifer never... I love the southern Irish accent .. the Northern one I have to admit is rough but the lit of the southern is very attractive, dont give your accent away, hey you'll be over here next month I believe, when you travelin ?
Lol, I guess Im used to my accent now :-), Im very Irish in the way I speak, Oh and yes I dont like the accent in Northern Ireland (they are british really, we still have not won that part of Ireland back, and wont) I cant understand them when they speak at all.. Where Im from its called the Republic of Ireland (ROI) Im a cultchie from County Kerry, meaning im from the country!!! But not a farmer lol...
Im travelling in 6 weeks!!! All booked for the 27th of May!!!! Excited but very nervous too.... Just waiting around is killing me!!!! And I can bet you anything, The Americans will not understand me at all.... I will need paper and pen so I can write it for them lol!!!! But I do love the American accet too.... LOVE IT!!!
The Northern accent is easy to understand if you spend any time with Northern people. Bit like the Cork accent which is near impossible at first. It just takes time. As to the Northern people been British? Matter of opinion on that one. I see them as Irish. Just having to endure living under British rule. We are one island. If the Tango men don't want to be part of Ireland I am sure they can find space on mainland Britian for them. Let us all live in peace.
Lol, I like your opinion but I if they had the choice they wouldn't change cause its what they are used to!!!!
I can understand the Cork accent very easily, maybe cause we are so close... The Dublin accent is one I love too, ha some word my Dub friends use are great!!!! It amazes me how different each county is!!!!
Yes a Lorrikeet is a bird :)
