my mom contracted staff aka mrsa while in the hospital from a dirty needle but hers is different hers is internal which means when it quits laying dormant in her system it will kill her that same hospital already kill my dad i promise if this kills her that hospital will be sued
Staph infections can be very difficult to treat. Staph bacteria can produce toxins and can cause various infections (wound, skin, toxins and if unlucky, septicemia/bacteremia). It may be killed by chlorine in the water but will not be killed on the skin especially if the bacteria is deeper and protected by the skin and tissue. The chlorine level may not be high enough to actually kill off the bacteria especially since some strains of Staph. auerus tend to be pretty tough.
Antiobiotics (the right kind) is very important with staph especially as trialanderror said, it can be resistant or develop resistance to many antiobiotics. It might be wise to consult the doctors if the staph infections do not clear up as it may be MRSA or Community-Acquired MRSA.
Another thing: people do not generally show immunity to staph so if you are being treated for it and other members of your team continue to exhibit symptoms, there is a high chance of re-infection after treatment.
staff infection you can get from numerous things like.....................my mom for instance she contracted staff when she was in the hospital with double pnuemonia and a nurse used a dirty needle on her so now it lays dormant in her system but when it shows up shell get really sick sometimes it can cause an untimely death to but no worries not in all cases
wait but the chlorine would kill the bacteria
people that have strep throat and go swimming can spread it...it can get inside your body through untact skin ( any kind of cut or bite) its easy to spread the bacteria...and without being treated, it can get very serious very fast.
Its a common cause of food poisoning...staph can grow both aerobically and anaerobically, it can also grow in fairly harsh environments.
It is the cause of toxic shock, as well.
It is what my staff has: a contagious unwillingness to work... just kidding.
Nope, wannabenana said it perfectly.
And if you ever hear of S. Aureus (staphylococcus aureus) - run! It is hard to control because it has started to show resistance to a lot of antibiotics. I would just be extra cautious if you have any injury and are at swimming pools or gyms. Apparently staph likes these environments plus hospitals have occasional outbreaks of staph infections.
Sorry, maybe I am paranoid since reading the book "The Killers Within"....
Something you want to stay away from.
Staph is short for Staphylococcus. It is a bacteria that can spread like wild fire from one person to the next.
It's not uncommon for a group of people, such as your swim team, to become infected. It can spread by touching one another, or sharing towels, etc.
