What in the world is happening to me????

I am a 40 year old (will be 41 next month) who had a hysterectomy in 2009 (have my left ovary in tact) I woke up this morning and the ends of my hair were SOAKING wet!!! And all day so far today I have been burning up (we are currently experiencing sleet/freezing raing and a lot of snow is on it's way so it's very cold outside) I am sitting here typing this in a short sleeved t-shirt and my hair up in pig tails and I am still sweating!!!

I have put deodorant on 3 times today so far and it's only almost 2PM!!!! I am normally a very cold person so this is very much not normal for me......is it possible that I had my first night sweat last night and I am experiencing hot flashes???? But I am only 40 years old!!!

Any insight is greatly appreciated!!
Thanks so much in advance if anyone responds!!

"My husband thinks one should not go to the DR unless it is absolutley necessary!! And this does not qualify!! =( "

If you end up with some of the symptoms I did (the emotional and mental ones were worse than the physical), he may feel differently! LOL

Also, studies show that ovary removal or post-hysterectomy ovarian failure and even natural premature ovarian failure is associated with a number of increased health risks such as heart disease, osteoporosis, hip fracture, and dementia. Hormone "replacement" mitigates some of these risks.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks so much for your comment!! I called my PCP today to get an appt to have my hormones checked but she was gone for the day so I will call back on Monday!

I am tho having the hardest time convincing my husband that this just MIGHT be the on set of perimenopause......when I told him this could go on for years he just laughed at me & told me "you are not even 41 years old yet!"

My husband thinks one should not go to the DR unless it is absolutley necessary!! And this does not qualify!! =(

Thanks again for your input!!

I am sorry you are going through this so early! Removal of any of the "reproductive" system can disrupt hormone production. There is a study or studies that show a 40% risk of ovarian failure after hysterectomy due to the loss of blood flow. Gynecologists should be telling their patients this as part of informed consent (along with many other facts) but it seems they seldom do.

I had an unwarranted hysterectomy and oophorectomy in 2006 at age 49 and the symptoms have been a nightmare. After a bit of trial and error of HRT's, I finally found one that helps most of my symptoms. I still wake up hot several times during the night though.
