Circumcision at 50?

My girlfriend (soon to be fiancee, I think) has said she'd like me to get a circumcision. Why? For cosmetic/hygienic/satisfaction reasons. She's not unhappy now, but would like me to do it. For no other woman would I consider this at my age, but I really love her, and am entertaining it.

I'm conscientious about hygiene and she has no complaints, but there are still hygienic advantages. As for satisfaction, everything is great except for woman on top, where the foreskin apparently gets in the way and reduces friction/sensation for her.

My only concern is that I've heard of "bad jobs" where much sensation is lost for the man. We both believe sex is a mutual act and it should be good for both, so she doesn't want that to happen either.

Looking for advice, as well as experiences from any men in my age range (late 40's - early 50's) who've done this. What's been your experience? Operation/pain/healing? Post-circumcision sexual results? Thanks.

This is a really old thread, and I'm sure OP has made his decision by now. :)

Greetings jwardl,

I can't tell you what to do as this has to be your decision, but I advise against getting circumcised just because your girlfriend wants it.
Ask her how she would feel if you asked her to get her inner labia cut off (female circumcision) in exchange.
Asking you to do this shows a lack of respect for you, your background and your body on her part.
Also, think of the discomfort during the recovery time and the possibility of a botched job.
Circumcision is a big racket in the medical profession and most of its so-called benefits have been debunked or at best, unsubstantiated.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Mine was done at around 50, definitely not the easiest and thank god I didn’t have any complications but I did loose more sensation that I wanted. I’m not experiencing ed but I think it’s because of the lack of sensation. I would say if it’s for cosmetic or looks don’t do it.

All I've heard about getting circumcised as an adult is that it is no walk in the park.  (They tell parents this who are considering not circumcising their babies.  I don't know if it is to scare the parent into circumcising.)  Hope someone responds who has been circumcised later than babyhood.
