Beard hair grown when 80 isn't past total grey

Following a stroke February 3, 2024, I let my beard grow, first time in over 20 years.   This time my beard came in mixed grey and dark hair.  Anyone have a similar experience , better an answer why.

Sorry to hear about your stroke! Hope you are doing alright. Let us know. So, you haven't had your beard grow out in twenty years and it came in dark and grey? I think that just may be what happens with time.

This time dark with grey, yet years ago it was totally grey.  Seems hair can change after being grey back to a younger color.  Was a surprise to me.  Friends have said I look 10 years younger, assume due to color of beard.
Okay, read that backwards. Your hair WAS grey 20 years ago and came in dark this time? I've read that sometimes greying can be related to nutritional deficiencies or underlying health conditions. (not just the usual thought of genes). So, perhaps you had a situation of that going on prior and it resolved? How are you after the stroke??
