Singular red spot at base of the penis.

Hi,

I developed a small localized redness at the base of the penis where the pubic hair starts to grow about 2 weeks ago now. It is smaller than the size of a dime (US currency) and has a shininess to it. The area is sensitive to touch and is very dry skin. I recently (2 days ago) have been applying Aveeno lotion to help with the dryness. It is still red and sore to the touch but other than that does not really have any large discomfort. There are no blisters, pus, or any liquid discharge from the area. Any advice or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

Not sexually active unlikely a STD/STI.

It could be any number of things - eczema, dermatitis, irritation to something, just really dry skin, a fungal infection, psoriasis, etc. The only way to know is to let a doc see it and diagnose you.

The treatments for each can be really different, so don't treat at home, or you could make it worse.
