I believe my urologist is dismissing my real concerns about how much I should be urinating after prostate laser surgery. My catheter was removed the day after surgery, and afterward could not pass urine. It felt like I was trying to pee against a wall. The nurse reinserted a Foley catheter and the doc said to leave it in 5 days and come back. After 5 days, I returned, urination was difficult, and with a weak stream and starting-stopping. My expectations were to be able to urinate reasonably within a short period. 10 days after surgery the ease of urination ranges from a 3 out of 10, down to a 1 out of 10. If my colon has not moved prior to trying, it's almost impossible to urinate...takes 15 minutes or more, at a trickle. My doc sent me home saying..."it just needs time to heal." Well, I'll grant him that, but my intuition tells me some other issue unrelated to my prostate may have been the source of my problems in the first place. Every time I try and urinate, I fear I won't be able to. I hate living like this. Am I being unreasonable wanting the doctor to follow up? Should I seek a second opinion? This Urology practice is very unsupportive and dismissive of my concerns.
