Prostate Ultra Sound result

Just received my US scan result re my prostate and wonder if anyone can give me a clue as to what, if anything would happen next.  I am late 70's btw.  Would appreciate your replies if anyone knows.

"The prostate is enlarged and has an irregular nodular appearance as it indents into the base of the bladder.  Prostate volume is 73mls"

I do have problems with urinating where it takes a little while "to go" and my diabetes consultant recommended the ultra sound for this and kidney problems, he also recommended my GP to refer me to a Urologist which he hasn't done.  Do you think this might be likely now after the scan results?

Many thanks for your help and replies.

Hi,
Your urinary symptoms are related to the prostate enlargement which may be called as nodular hyperplasia. For your age group, the expected normal volume of the prostate is 48 ml. You will get more details from the following link:

Hope your doctor will refer you to a urologist for further treatment /medications to reduce the prostate volume.
