That is actually called coffee ground emesis. It means there was bleeding in the upper digestive tract. There may be a peptic ulcer. You should ask the doctor what he thinks the cause of the bleeding is.

Thank you for your response. I have been researching on this topic and found the same diagnosis. Unfortunetly, my brother has passed three years now. The ER told us he had Sepsis??? I filed a complaint against the NH with DPH and they were found negligent. My poor brother suffered so much. Now he is at peace.
