Hi,
You are welcome. Let us hope everything turns out well.
Looking forward to hear from you.
thanks so much for your assistance, I am trying to get a earlier appointment so that I do not have to wait for 10 days for someone to talk to me, there has been no mention of an increased intercranial pressure so I am looking forward to the specialist being able to answer some questions for me.
I will keep you posted, as perhaps there will be someone else that may benefit from this as well.
Thank you so much for your response and help.
Hi,
The dura or dura mater is the membrane which lines the brain and the spinal cord. Although I can not exactly tell what causes the development of a dura stone and what composes it , the fact that it involves the dura may cause inflammation and irritation of the nearby structures. This may explain your symptoms.
Has your primary physician mentioned anything about an increased intracranial pressure?
Seeing a neurosurgeon will best guide you.It is best to bring your CT scan results with you during your consultation.
I do not have the scan results, I have not even seen them yet. I was told over the phone by a nurse that what is causing my headaches is a Dural Stone.
My headaches have been constant for 9 weeks, no relief.
It's like a pressure headache that when I sneeze, bend over or cough my head wants to explode. It's a constant, doesn't need a trigger.
It's mostly the right side of my head, like behind my right eye.
It's a throbbing sensation with no real sharp or stabbing pain.
I do get nauseated, I have felt like vomiting but haven't yet.
Extremities are fine, seem unaffected, but my right eye gets blurry. I have a hard time consentrating at work.
My primary care physician is sending me to a Neuro Surgeon in 10 days for a better diagnosis, but in the mean time I would relly appreciate any help I could get to understand what is happening.
Thanks for the questions...I look forward to your thoughts...
Hi,
Just a few questions:
Would you be able to elaborate more on the CT scan result? Do you have this with you?
I have not really been familiar with dural stone but the rest of the CT scan results may give an idea.
Also you have mentioned that you have had chronic headaches before ?
How would describe the headache?
What triggers the headaches?
Does the headache affect only one side of the head or does this involve both sides?
Is the headache pulsating or throbbing, dull , sharp and stabbing?
Any other associated symptoms like nausea and vomiting, weakness and numbness of the extremities, and visual symptoms?
