The " headache in the upper neck" I have it, it comes on w the migraine and runs down into the trapezoid muscle and along the shoulder blade. Neuro says muscoskelatal problems are as prevalent w migraine as nausea. I take zanaflex for it, after being non responsive to non sedating muscle relaxers. Hope you get some relief, for me the neck & shoulder hurt as much as the head, sometimes. Good luck!
I am sorry to hear about all the discomfort that you are going through and the medications that you keep trying. Do you feel like the cause to your migraines are being fixed and addressed? Or do you feel like you are just masking the problems with the medications? I used to take these same medications for my migraines. I can report that I have not had a migraine in over 4 years and I don't take any medications. I have more energy, do not miss work and can play with my kids. I started seeing a Maximized Living doctor who found the cause to my migraines and began a process to fix the problem. About my 6th visit they totally disappeared, but noticed a difference after my second appointment. I would suggest that you look into seeing a maximized living doctor, if you want more information you can go to www.maximizedliving.com and you can also find a doctor there as well. I hope you all have the same amazing experience that I did. It has changed my life, and I didn't think I would ever get better.
doesnt work i think you should move on to a new drug. do not try any of the triptans. if you do make sure you are careful about what you eat. i gained 65 pounds on amitripyline. i am on topamax and verapimil now. they both dont work. a lot of people like topamax. have you tried that one? have you tried atacaid or botox? neither worked for me but im a tough case.
The same thing happened to me, i stopped taking Verapamil because i started to get strange neck pains, base of head to my neck and shoulders. I stopped taking them or awhile and it went away, then i recently started to take them and it came back. Stop the Verapaml everynone, it is no good.
i was on Topomax for 2 months (for migraine prevention) and it had the worst side effects I've ever experienced. Depression was bad, weigt loss was bad, brain fog was bad. I wouldn't recommend Topomax to anyone, ever.
I have been using verapamil now for 9 months and it works great! I also frova to take for when the headaches start to flair up. I can honestly say this medication has done wonders for me, I can go out in the sun with out all the pain.
