chronic headaches/migraines for 14 yrs with no relief

Hello. I'm a 27 year old female. I have been suffering from chronic headaches and migraines for about 14 years with no true relief. I have been to at least 5 neurologists in my area as well as other doctors and other wellness professionals. Since the onset of my symptoms as a young teenager through today, I have tried nearly every headache/migraine medication with no success including over-the-counter relief aids. I've attempted alternative therapies such as acupuncture, chiropractic visits, looking into getting a night-guard mouth piece, dieting with elimination of caffeine, chocolate, and sodium triggers as well as other common diets just for trying's sake. I eat fairly healthy on a regular basis by avoiding fast food and processed/greasy foods elsewhere. I exercise when I'm feeling well enough to do so, but even on the average day I feel active enough to say I'm in good shape. I have been to a pain management clinic at one of the teaching hospitals in my state-- also with no success. I've had clean MRIs and normal blood work, including hormone level tests. Recently, I tried Botox for migraines, however, the injection treatment itself has seemed to cause severe headaches. I have called the neurologist's office 4 times in less than two weeks trying to get some help. I was told that Botox is the end-all from someone in my situation, but it seems to only be getting worse. I was since prescribed Fioricet which I had taken in the past with no luck, had an emergency trip back to the office for a shot of Toradol, also with no success, and now a prescription of Percocet which is also not helping. The only other option that was offered to me is a steroid infusion at the outpatient center at one of the hospitals.

I am at wit's end. Can anyone offer me any suggestions as a treatment or perhaps a doctor in the New York City area? I've tried so many medications and doctors and I'm sure many other chronic sufferers can relate. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

If you have tried Botox, you may need it increased.  My first dose did nothing for me.  But it was increased 3 times for me, each time increasing the effectiveness for fighting my migraines.

I hope that you know that taking ANY pain killer more than 3 days a week leads to rebound migraines.

Also Petadolex, which you can get online, was the only daily preventative medication that helped my migraines.

Also have you been IGA blood tested to see if there are any particular foods or other substances that could be causing your migraines.  One woman I met said that cauliflower and some other food triggered her chronic migraines.  Since eliminating them, she has had no further migraines.

I wish you well.

I had migranes from magnesium deficiency. If you haven't tried magnesium then I can recommend magnesium chelated with amino acids supplements.  Magnesium oxide only has a 4% absorption so avoid that type.
