I am a 52 yr. old female and have CM's and have had a mild stroke from a CM. It's good that you went to the ER and they treated you like a stroke victim, I believe they did the right thing at the hospital in treating you. It's hard to tell the difference between a CM and stroke. They can have the same symptoms. I do not smoke, have never been on Valtrex and have had a tubal. Don't know how shingles would come into play, that would be for a dr. to say. The meds I take are preventative med for migraines and aspirin. Complicated migraines are just that.... COMPLICATED! Mine was a blood vessel that collapsed briefly causing blood flow to cease, similar to a clot, although I do not have clotting issues. Mine CM's are neurological and sometimes a headache and sometimes no headache. WEIRD! I have found a great migraine specialist after searching and searching to find a dr. that will listen to me. Whatever you do, don't take these CM's lightly, I would rather go through the tests and be told everything is fine, than sit at home wondering and it not be fine... Time is of the essence. Take care!!!
I am 40 and have had two strokes. Out of 10 doctors two think my strokes are related to CM's. My heart is fine, and I have no clotting factors. I too was on valtrex at the time of my two strokes. Last week I had an aura with loss of vision in my left eye. Theyt did a ct and found no stroke damage this time. This would have been my 3rd stroke in 5 years. Please let me know what CM treatment you have had. I am just on asprin.
Hi,
How are you? It is good that the CT scan and blood test result were fine. Can you elaborate the symptoms you had? Valacyclovir or Valtrex may cause side effects such as nausea, vomiting, fatigue, dizziness, stomach pain, and rarely, mental/mood changes (e.g., agitation, hallucinations), confusion, speech problems, unsteady movement, or vision changes. A healthy lifestyle including proper diet, regular exercise and prescription medications for this may help. Take care and do keep us posted.
