Atrophy with MS can mean that the disease has been going on for a while, and the brain has shrunk.
This doesn't mean that you have MS necessarily - it's a neurological disorder, which means that the symptoms are from damage to the CNS. Many things can cause damage to the CNS, like stroke, encephalitis, meningitis, transverse myelitis, and Lyme... not to mention a host of auto-immune disorders.
It sounds like an abnormal MRI to me too. Has the MD suggested any more testing?
No he hasn't and I don't know what to do now. The nurse said over the phone that the mri was fine. I got a copy of it, and luckily and found out about all the issues. My Dr has moved to the charity hosp. and is too over run with patients . I think I am slipping through the cracks here. Thank you for your response.
Hey, don't be afraid to bump up your own post so it's seen by more people! That way you don't have to keep reposting the same info.
Do you have health insurance? You're going to need a referral to a neurologist, and I'm not sure how that's done when you have no insurance and no PCP. Actually, I have no idea if you're in the US or across the pond!
Hi there...welcome to the forum, I'm glad you got a copy of the results, I would ask the Dr or another Dr to look at this again and go over the results with you to explain things. If you are having symptoms you should find out why?
let us know what happens with this and take care

Thank you for your responses. I do live in the U. S.--Louisiana to be exact. And about the oil spill, We are all "sick" about the mess, the economic and biological fallout. If it weren't for bad luck we would have no luck at all. We aren't as redneck here as we often get portrayed in the media.--I do have health insurance through my husband--thank God!
I hope that didn't come across as rude--My computer jumped ahead and posted before I finished my post. I think this thing has a mind of its own.ha --Anyway, in response to your post-How do I step up my post. This is all new to me----Thank you so much--I hhope you are having a good wekend.
Hi weenus, The doctor really blew you off. I wonder if anyone even looked at the films after the radiologist wrote the report. Have you even seen a doctor since after the MRI? I agree, I think you could be falling through the cracks. I had a similar experience in that I had an MRI which was called in by the secretary as "fine". Went and got my own report etc. etc.
Somehow you have to find someone that will refer you to a neurologist. Could you go to an ER or urgent care there and see if one of them could refer you? I know they have huge hospitals in New Orleans. For me, it was my Spine Specialist that referred me.
I'll be thinking about you and following this thread as you work through this obstacle
