6PAQ and all...

6PAQ:
I was reading your post on Carpal Tunnel and you said you were diagonsed with Ulnar Nerve Entrapment.  What exactly is that and what were you symptoms?  My biggest problems seems to be in my arms/hands.    Then best way I can explain the pain is it feels like I'm hitting my funny bone.  It feels like it comes from my elbow and travels down my hand.  Hurts!!  Mine doesn't just occur at night though.  It is all day!  ANyway just curious about it.
Thanks,
  skarey

Forgive me for not seeing your post sooner ~ this board is getting active!

The ulnar nerve runs from the inside of your shoulder and on the inside of the elbow.  It passes through your wrist and to your pinky and ring fingers.

My symptoms were tingling in my ring and pinky fingers.  I would get it if I held something for a period of time.  I would also get the tingling as soon as I held my computer mouse (my ring/pinky fingers) are on the side of the mouse.    During the night, I awaken with my hands tingling and numb.  Changing position and "shaking" them out would make the tingling/numbness go away (until I woke up later).

My inner elbows ache too.

I used to work as a computer programmer and still spend many hours at the computer at home.  My setup is very un-ergonomic and my elbows tend to "hang" when typing/using the mouse.  I also sleep with my hands and arms very tightly clenched.

If you hit your funny bone, I believe that's the ulnar nerve.  If your pain is in the "funny bone", that could be ulnar nerve.  Is the pain in your palm the whole palm or just the outside of it?  CTS affects the median nerve which goes to the thumb, forefinger, middle finger and part of the ring finger and the corresponding portion of the palm.

Also, it doesn't have to happen during the night.  If you do have ulnar nerve entrapment, you may not be sleeping with your elbows bent.  Mine happens day and night, but is worse at night.

I am now having issues with my thumb/forefinger.  That would not be ulnar nerve, but more median, or CTS.  I have to have that checked out by my neuro though!

HTH!

Take care!  Pat :)
