update from neuro appointment

Hi

Over the last couple of years I have posted loads of questions, some to me seemed rather stupid, but I always have received such a wonderful and friendly response. For that I am grateful.

I have now seen the neurologist again to talk through the results of my last MRI. He has concluded that I probably have MS. So from here I am due to see an MS nurse during June. I am also returning to the neuro in June to discuss things more thoroughly. I am somewhat relieved that there is probably an answer to my symptoms and I no longer need to worry about it all being in my head. I have actually been feeling fairly good these last couple of months but just this week seem to have slipped back and some old symptoms have returned. So here I go again.

Even though at the moment he is saying MS is probably what it is, I think I am getting off really lightly compared to so many of you who seem to have such a terrible time. So my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Take care and thanks again for all your help. I will be in touch and offer support to others if I can.

It sounds like you are in good hands. The best thing any doc can do is point you to someone better able to help thqn they are. I had this good fortune as well and had a fairly quick dx process.

Keep us posted.

Hi there,

They are definitely not stupid questions to us  - we truly understand :)
I hope your MS nurse if fab, your fortunate to have a good doc that has suspicions and is willing to send you to a specialist to be certain. It's important to get this right since the dx will dictate the treatment.

Glad you are making some progress. My dx was quick too - I just didn't believe what they were telling me. I know better now :)

Please keep in touch.

Yes I see the ms nurse in June and have another appointment with the neuro in June also. The MS specialist I don't know when I will be seeing, I suppose I will be receiving an appointment in the post. I am not sure what you mean about the Neuro timeline but then some neurologists are so on there own agenda!

I thought you said you would see an MS nurse?  that's different than an MS specialist.  Nothing wrong with an LP just in case.  It's not the gold standard anymore but can't hurt.

your neuro's timeline baffles me but then many things baffle me :-)

He metioned lesions being present and some seem to be old ones that hadn't shown up on a previous mri scan which I had done back in 2009. He had considered a LP just to clarify and possibly a spinal mri as some of my symptoms could be from spinal lesions, but he thinks he has enough evidence to go on for now from mri and symptom history. To be honest a lot of the waffle about my mri went over my head as all I could take in was the fact he was almost certain it is MS. I think he is hoping my visit to an MS specialist will help to clarify his 'almost' diagnosis.

Did he mention lesions in his initial "probably MS" discussion or did he leave you hanging?  just curious.  Since your comments are vague, you will probably get several if not many with questions!

Not happy you have joined the club but....if it gives you answers, there are worse fates.
