> On a serious note... really... where are the nudie pics stored?
Heh... There's some pictures of my naked brain on my profile!
That's a great link, Doug - I saw a similar thing at a science fair years and years ago, when I was a kid.
Yaa, haa, haa! We got us a class clown! Welcome!
I'm one of the aforementioned creek gypsies, but have done it all west of the Mississippi, including the Big Ditch.
Keep up the good sense of humor - yer gonna need it!
Being a creek gypsy, I put my leftover brown rice into my pancake batter for breakfast (helps with the bowel issues). I like my coffee like my humor - dark and bitter! A dab of patchouli under my pits, and I'm good to go.
Your such a hoot!
DMD: Disease Modifying Drug
Your doc mention this to you after the dx? Or, did he/she want a 2nd opinion to the dx?
Once dx is made a thorough conversation on disease treatment is in order.
Let us know,
~Shell
Doug,
What a GREAT post. We all could use some humor on here. As for the nudie pics...you're too late. My DH was trying to copy and paste and instead hit cut and paste. Somehow the pics are now have gone to the place where all those long posts or letters have disappeared....it's located neck to the Missing Sock spot on cyberspace.
I''m glad you found us and we look forward to seeing more posts from you.
Ren
First, I apologize to all the posted a reply for my long delay in saying thank you for the warm welcome. I wanted to come out each evening after work this past week to give thanks, but by the end o' each work day I was just too drained. So now I say thank you to everyone.
Now to reply to each of you in one post in the order received:
Huff1711: Dude... please tell me that's not a urine sample you are holding in your picture! ;-) I hear what you are saying regarding it being a shame that we all have to meet the way we have, but I truly look at it as a gift. I would have never met the crazy Huffmeister were it not for MS. Stay the course and rock on brother!
Wiggles94: I am totally surprised that any doctor left the examining room "faster than a speeding bullet" as you put it... when there is a woman in there with the name Wiggles! If I was a doctor, my assitants would have to drag me out of that room. ;-) I see you are from NY... that puts you close to Jersey... kind of sorta... have you ever met Tony Soprano? I totally dig that dude. Bada Bing!
Lulu54: No bacon?!?! No coffee?!?! I'd have to slit my wrists! In answer to your question, I am right across the Mighty Ohio River in one of the burbs of Northern Kentucky... home to some of the finest creek gypsies on this planet. Thank you for the very warm welcome LuLu. BTW... I probably got MS from all the partying I use to do in my younger days at the Hara Arena in your neck o' the woods (that just flooded me with some crazy memories).
supermum_ms: Wow! So many questions in a first greeting. Let's see if I can answer then in order. (1) Please don't make homemade rockets. (2) I was just talking to Darth and he claims he is in perfect health and that his biggest setback is when appearing together at military functions, The Emperor always insists on wearing his 'I'm with stupid' T-shirt. (3) The answer to your algebra question is (in Jeopardy format)... what is the Colonel's secret 11 herbs and spices. (4) Potassium and water would not to anything... but use some Dark German Aluminum ground down to a -300 mesh and you will have something spectacular take place. Lastly, I love your "bad infomercial analogy. Brilliant!
sumanadevii: Rut-roh! Your husband being in my same line of work makes me have to say that I have been instructed by my juris counsel to never talk with competitors. ;-) In answer to your question, yes... being crazy is a pre-requisite for being in your husband's and mine line of work. Think about it, how do you come up with special effects when a person like Boy George calls your office for help. Quick... somebody get me some booze! Thank you supermum for your kind and warm welcome.
rendean: Thank you for the warm welcome Ren. At your direction, I actually have started to explore the site. It is going to become on of my primary resources for this new adventure that I have been placed within. But... where's all the nudie pics of everyone stored at? I've looked high and low and keep coming up empty handed. You seem to be the Queen of the menu system so I thought that perhaps you could help a fellow American that is down on his luck. ;-) On a serious note... really... where are the nudie pics stored?
MisterTimC: Okay Tim... I see what you are saying about figuring out who is normal here on the site and who isn't. You and I need to come up some sort of quick and easy purity test that would enable us to quickly weed out the normal folk. I have no time for normal, nor do any of the other crazies. ;-) Thank you for giving me a link to the discussion on first symptoms, I will be sure to participate there today or tomorrow. BTW... I dig the photo of the Mt. Saint Helens. Absolutely beautiful!
lydia231: After having a close look at your photo I have some good news and some bad news for you. The good news: you don't have MS. The bad news: you might have heartworms. ;-) Seriously, I read your profile and I am glad to see that you are doing well after your pancreatic cancer surgery. As far as the MS possibility goes, or no matter what it is that is causing you neurological problems, I think you are hanging with the right group of people here. Keep the faith... then see a vet sweetie!
Sparkysarah: You folks on the other side of the big pond are absolutely great. I have many a customer in your neck of the woods and they are splendid to ring and chat it up with. See... I even have the lingo down good... don't I sunshine? ;-) I regards to the big guy upstairs not answering you back, I think he has by leading you to this community (or maybe it was Google), but regardless, I'm sure if you look hard enough you will find his answers all around you. Thank you for the warm welcome from abroad!
sllowe: Somehow I get the feeling you are one of the masterminds here; your obvious love of sausage gravy and bisquits was a clear giveaway! ;-) Your words were encouraging to me regarding some of my symptoms fading over time possibly. I certainly hope so, but until they do... they qualify me for a handicap parking pass!!! Oh yeah! I feel like a king now when I go to Walmart. LOL You brought up DMDs... either you are telling me I have an unforseen visit with a dentist in my future or you are speaking of something that I don't understand. What is a DMD? BTW... good luck with quitting the butts, I have to do the same very soon. What an addiction that has been for me. Thank you for the warm welcome!
MonkeyMom4: Thank you for the very nice welcome. Sweetie... you don't have MS. YOU HAVE FOUR KIDS!!! I'd been feeling twitchy and numb too! LOL Seriously, it looks like you have a wonderful tribe there with you and what a blessing that is. I hope that you are able to figure out what is wrong so that you are not stuck in limboland for to long. I know exactly what that is like. Thanks again for the welcome. BTW... there are 12 step programs that can ween you off of Dora the Explorer, Barney and Sesame Street.
meg321: If you are on the downside of normal Meg... then I'm hanging with you. Normal is so boring! ;-) Thank you for the advice of keeping a positive attitude; this is my exact plan of action. My doctor of 10+ years, who I have been complaining of bizarre symptoms to for over nearly that entire time said to me, "Doug, you are taking this news very well." What he didn't know was that at this same time four of my friends were stripping his car clean out behind his office! Thank you for the warm welcome and sage advice Meg.
jensequitur: Trust me Jen, you are not a downer, as I could write a book about my adventures with my ex-wife that would make you feel like you are Homey the Clown on steroids! ;-) Your description of the meds sounds pretty good to me. I need something that will reduce relapes and give me time to recharge inbetween. I'm glad you gave me some hopes that they will do exactly that for me. In answer to your question; yes... putting fog in a bass drum will produce smoke rings. Here is a larger version of the same concept (strange dude... but good example) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VL0M0jmu7k&feature=player_embedded Thank you for the warm welcome Jen.
Thank you everyone as all your welcome messages made me feel that I was where I needed to be.

Welcome, Doug! The breakfasts are great, except for Sunday, when oatmeal is served - that's why it's so slow!
I'm sometimes a downer... The thing is with the DMDs is that they won't make you feel better, except indirectly. What they do - or what they're supposed to do - is reduce the number of relapses. Fewer relapses means that you have more time to recover, and you'll be healthier overall. They delay progression, and for many people that's the difference between walking and wheelchair.
Okay, so I have a special effect question for you - if you put a smoke machine in a bass drum, will the smoke coming out the sound hole create smoke rings?
Hi Doug,
Welcome to our forum....I already love you !!!! Love that sense of humor, we need it around here.
Just to save you some time, I am on the the down side of normal on here.
I did feel better after I started copaxone after awhile even though they said it was only to slow down progression and the flare ups....
I do remember asking my Dr. why I was feeling so much better and she said possibly the copaxone but a lot of it was from my attitude and being so positive.
So looks like you have a very good start, just keep it up !!
Grievances, no clue ....
hugs, meg
Welcome Doug!
Sorry to hear about your dx, but at least you came to the right site. There are many wonderful, helpful people on here!
Again, welcome!
-Kelly (limbolander)
Hi Doug,
Welcome - welcome. Breakfast....mmmm, the smell of some sausage gravy and biscuits comes to mind when you mention "grub." And, who gave up our food fancy ways?
Nice of you to say such nice things about us, thank you very much. Hope you like it here. Sorry to hear of your dx, but you sound like your ok w/it. I hope some symptoms fade for you too. If it's any relief for you some I though would never leave faded enough to bearable and I'll take that any day of the week. DMDs in your near future?
Do you actually realize just how many of us you are stuck with? Through the holidays too hahah
See you around - thanks for joining us.
~Shelly
Hi Dough....well I like most things made of this, croissants/bread/toast for breakfast. You are most welcome and especially as your sense of humour in your first post could not go unnoticed. We all need laughs and amusing posts to get us through the tough times.
Our breakfast here in Uk is at a different time, I often put my complaints to the big guy upstairs who seems to take things without answering back.
Sorry about your diagnosis, but I am sure in some ways it is a relief to know what you are dealing with. This is a great forum and you will make some wonderful friends and meet some very well informed compassionate people.
Welcome once again

Hi Doug,
I am new aroung here to, but have not been diagnosed yet. At my last neuro exam the doctor said she was borderline on diagnosing me. So if you read people on this site say they are in limbo land, that is also where I reside. I am also in the boat of saying "yep, I have that symptom to", but don't know alot yet about ms. I am trying to educate myself about the disease.
Doug:
Welcome and sorry you're here, but yes, this is the place to be... for people with a weird sense of humor. Seriously. Just look around... about half of the group is normal. The trouble is trying to figure out which half is which.
And while you're at it, you seem to have a timeline that would be interesting to include in this list:
http://www.medhelp.org/posts/Multiple-Sclerosis/How-long-between-first-symptoms-and-Dx/show/1396208?personal_page_id=871652#post_6368465
I'm sure your story will be helpful to others who are yet to land here.
Are you the one that creates brain fog that everyone complains about?
Best wishes,
TimC
Welcome Doug!
As all the preceding post said, you have a great sense of humor and we do like to laugh...at ourselves, at stupid neuros and what ever else strikes our fancy. Humor keeps us sane.
Have you explored the site yet? There are Health Pages in the upper right hand side of the page. There is a wealth of information in there. Ifyour exact question isn't answered you may want to try the "Search this community" which is in the green bar at the right side of page where Recent Activity is listed.
Glad to have you aboard...sorry it because of MS.
Stick around and you will find a good sense of family and support. There is no question to "dumb" to ask . We have all been there before. Jump in the fray anytime want.
Welcome again,
Ren
Welcome Doug. My husband is errrr...sort of in the same line of work and...odd...but the humor is the same...lol...Does it run in the business?
While I am sorry you have MS, I am happy you have been diagnosed and will receive the medical care you need, For filing grievances? I would love to sue my first neuro but rarely do MS cases win. Maybe filing complaints against some of these physicians would lead to them "listening" to a patient.
Hey Doug,
Just can't go past a guy with a great sense of humor, its the only way to travel! Now first things first, What's the go with making a great home made rocket? Is it true that Darth Vader only had asthma? whats 4+7m-30-m+n if n is 5.1 and m is 50.01? Is the answer to the ultimate question really 42? How far can you make a rocket projectile travel vertically using only potasium and H2O? ROFL you did offer!
Now for grievances, i've heard the man in the big red suit gets a lot of lists at this time of year, i'm sure one with a different flavour could make it through to head office.
Cheers.........JJ
PS MS is like a bad info-mercial, 'but wait there's more', i'm still waiting for my free set of steak knives. lol
Hi Doug and welcome. Personally I prefer bacon with breakfast but don't tell my cardiologist, ok?
It su cks that you have MS, but remember for most of us it can be managed through disease modifying therapy.
I see you are in that state just south of me - whereabouts in the Bluegrass state are you? There is a really good MS center over in the Louisville area - for some reason I am on their mailing list but it's a bit far for me to travel for treatment. (3+ hours).
You are so right about this being a great community - its a bit slow on the weekends but the weekdays get pretty busy. Hang out long enough and you'll get the feel of things here.
Oh, I should have also mentioned that I gave up coffee after my heart attack so I prefer a green tea if you're in charge of breakfast.
take care, Lulu
Welcome Doug!
I am fairly new to this site as well - on since October.
Your humor is very much appreciated! I hope you keep everyone up to date on how things are going for you, and give us some laughs along the way.
As far as your question - you should file all grievances with all the docs who asked you questions without seeming to hear or care about your answers who had their hand on the doorknob and left "faster than a speeding bullet" in a few minutes of meeting you......of course none of us on this site know any docs like that - they may be hard to find to file that grievance. Perhaps you could find them with their tax man or at the DMV registering their car? or discussing their insurance reimbursments with their senators??
Sorry you're here, but thanks for the laughs.
Hi and welcome to the forum. Just a shame we all have to meet because of the disease. If you ever have any questions you'll have plenty of people here to rely on or give guidance to you. They've helped me out more than they should of. I owe them a lot. Hopefully your symptoms give you a break for a while.
