Just touch'n base

Hi to all,  Hope you are all starting to get organized for the upcoming holiday festivities.

But, I have a few questions ............... when the pain gets bad, and you are on 3000mg. of Gabapentin, among other things, and the Gaba isn't working anymore very well, what direction do I go now.?

I saw someone else's post about the tooth ache type pain in their leg, and I am having something like that too.  and it hurts ALOT and the Gabapentin isn't touching it at all.
Sometimmes it feels like I can't walk, and it almost feels like the worst muscle cramp that I have ever had, but it is on the inside and outside of my right calf.

Anyways, what I was wondering is what direction to take to the Dr...... you seem to need some pre-work material to take to the Dr's for them to know what direction to go.

Thanks in advance,
Candy

Candy, it sounds to me like you've got some spasticity in your leg.  This can feel like a muscle cramp or spasm if it's really tight.

I would just describe the pain to the doctor, and tell him that Gapabentin isn't working.  You might try stretching or massaging the muscle and see if that helps.  Sometimes the spot is in a weird place, and it takes a while to find it.  I get a spasm in the muscle that runs across the top of the hip flexors.  It's right above the hip and inside my abdomen almost, so I have to stick my hand inside my love handle to rub the top of the hip.

Sounds like you need a good pain specialist. Sometimes then it can take time. They have to go over your whole history and come up with options. They can go with medications, epiderals, drug infusuins, PT. It can take awhile to find what will work. I am going through the slow process. I also had to get off a bunch of drugs which seemed hard at the time. I found many of them made things worse.

I first went to a University based one and then found a private Doctor.
