I started Avonex yesterday so I may not be much help. I was surprised at how little it hurt other than the stick. Even today I rubbed the injection site and it wasn't sore. there's still time
I just came off Copaxone and that was much more painful.. I had had a little tightness in my chest it remimded me of post IVSM when they sent me to the ER and and I came out with a diagnosis of "weakness" but as soon as they started IV fluids I felt much better. So today I drank more water and it seemed to go away.

Hi Jat,
I'm on a sub-q shot, and not the intramuscular. Have you mentioned this to your prescribing neuro? Or, the folks at Avonex?
I would say you should not experience these things from the injections. You could possibly experience such things as soreness in the general injecting area, but not tightening in your chest the next day, or under your shoulder.
I recommend seeing your doctor (regular) - and especially so if these symptoms you describe started happening suddenly, you should see your doctor right away.
I am not a doctor - but feel you should strongly you should report these probs to your doc straight away. Could just be coincidental to your injections, but totally unrelated.
Thanks for joining us - sorry your post slipped to the 2nd page.

I put an ice pack on mine to kind of numb it before the injection. It seems to help. I like it alot better in my arms than my legs..it doesnt hurt as much but neuro said there are only 4 locations in arm. Maybe eventually your body wll get used to it. How long have you been on avonex?
