Buzzing...new to the board

I am new to this section of MedHelp.  As of late May 2010, I've been experiencing weakness of arms, legs, shoulder and hands, intermittent numbness and tingling of the same.  A new physician (rheumatologist) has repeated the mri...waiting on results.  What started out as suspected carpal tunnel has progressed to a giant question mark.  Within the last two weeks, I've started experiencing a buzzing/vibration, which started in my left leg and is now felt throughout the lower half of my body.  I've gone through two sets of nerve conduction tests, but not gotten any answers.  My biggest fear is that whatever this is is just flying below the radar.  The rheumatologist pointed out that I have ridges that can be felt below the skin on my arms and legs.  She is also suspecting Schwannomas, based on symptoms.   Any thoughts you might have on this would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

Thanks for your response, Sarah...much appreciated.  I am waiting on the results of recent tests. The positive thing (difficult to find a positive right now) is that I was referred to a group of Rheumatologists who strike me as being more on the ball than whoever I've seen before.  This is the first time that I've had docs actually tell me that my symptoms are legit and that something is going on.  They feel strongly that this is neurological in nature, and are also feeling strongly that I need to see one at a larger medical center.  God bless the guys at the local hospitals, but there comes a time when they're just not enough.

The reason why I posted here is because I had done a search on "buzzing" and was directed to this board.  I'm trying really hard not to presume anything, but I'm sure that you can understand how difficult that is to do.

Stay well, and thanks again.
peace,
Anne

Hi and welcome to the forum. It sounds as if you are experiencing some uncomfortable and  worrying symptoms. Have you had blood tests done as well as MRI?  I think that you just have to wait to see if the results of the scan throw any light on things and I am sorry that as I cannot add anything.  I am guessing as you have posted on the MS site that you are concerned that you may be experiencing some symptoms.  All I can add is that the diagnosis of MS is a matter of elimination as there are many similar condtions.

Let us know how you get on with your MRI results and feel free to ask any questions or reach out for support when you need it.

Best wishes

Sarah
