There are many chronic illnesses that can have flare-ups and remissions. MS is interesting in the variety of ways it flares up within the same person.
A post-viral would tend to flare up with the symptoms of that virus and not with a veritable buffet of neurologic symtpoms. What I mostly recall is the waxing and waning of fatigue, myalgias and perhaps liver inflammation.
CIDP, the peripheral demyelinating disease can have relapses and remssions.
Jazz, Lupus, is not the only disease that has flare ups by far!

Oh Heather, that is a scary, bad word in our family. :-(
The year my last son was born, my husband's sister died of Lupus at age 38.
Is that the only other possibility? Boy that would be ironic.

One disorder that comes to my mind is Lupus...
Thanks guys. Kristin, that would definitely play into my having Ebv if viral does cause waxing and waning.
How can doctors have completely different answers? Isnt' there a manual they all have to learn from?
LOL ok, I'm being fecicious but really.

Great question!! When I went to Mayo clinic the neuro said I had post viral syndrome and she said it could wax and wane. Then she sent me to the Neuro Ophthalmologist there and he was a bit older and more experienced and he said "the waxing and waning does not correlate with post viral syndrome".
Quix, Heather, any other experts here . . . . . . you are up.
Have a nice night Jazzy!!
