Back from I.D. appt....

  Hi Guys!!!  Thought I would let you know what I found out today.  I found out that having a positive parvo test in the bone marrow is not common, I was told that it is usually a sign of a bone marrow disorder, the only thing is, which one?  It's not cancer, it could be something affecting the production of blood cells, but they don't think its anything to worry about at this time.  I had to have some more labs done while I was there, so we'll see if they find out anything...

They told me because I am genetic predisposed for RA, the parvovirus is more than likely the culprit that started this whole process for me.  Sooo, now I have three Dr's saying this is RA and probably not Stills..  I can believe that parvo could be the reason for my rashes and fevers but my fevers are still in cycles when they do come.  But for now, I will accept RA for a dx because the treatment is the same as it would be if it was Stills...

Thanks for the update.  I'm trying to wrap my head around this chronic parvo thing.  I had Parvo B19 (as I've mentioned before) in 1999.  At that time I had the rashes, lacy all over my shoulders and trunk and the "slapped cheeks", too.  Since then I have continued to have arthritis in my right wrist and my right ankle.  But, no other joints have ever been involved and I don't think the arthritis has been a destructive type.

When I saw a rheumatologist she looked me in the eye and told me that the arthritis of Parvo B19 was not permanent.  Yet I had just told her that I developed the arthritis during a Parvo B19 infection 6 years earlier and it had never improved.  Ya think some docs are a little dense??

For everyone - Parvo B19 is the cause of Fifth Disease (aka Slapped Cheek Disease, Erythema Infectiosum).  During active infections, which are usually mild, there is often a suppression of bone marrow blood cell production or other effects on the white cells.


Ada, what do the doctors say about the Stills??  And isn't Stills another form of RA??  Aren't they related?

So much seems contradictory.

But, at least you are being treated.  Have we roasted the idiot rheum attending from the hospital??  It just galls me that he is teaching students his form of ignorant arrogance.

Well, if the new med doesn't help with the inflammation in your wrists, maybe we can all pitch in and get you some of that software that recognized your voice and types what you say.  

Hmm, I wonder what company makes it; maybe we can get them to do some research among our members having trouble typing, and give free use of their software while they study how it works.  Great P.R. for them, helping us all stay connected.  Just a thought...

Naw, I want the meds to work and your hands and wrists to feel better so you can enjoy life more, not just keep in touch with your lovin' forum family!

When do you start taking the new med?  How quickly does it start working?

Awe, thank you Kathy....  I miss ya, Sweetie!!!  I feel so bad about not being on the forum like I used to be but I am hoping the new med I will be starting will help with the inflammation in my wrists and hands so I can type away!!!  This c-rap stinks!!!  hehehe  I think the slayer in me has been on vacation or something!!!
