Down again

And no I don't mean mood, but body. I just spent 12 hours in the ER with my friend Dave today. This was after spending 7 hours at the VA with him just last Tuesday.  I will also have to take him back up to the VA on Monday. Needless to say I am in agony tonight, but will hopefully be able to recoup some tomorrow.

This made the third trip to an ER in 3 weeks for Dave since his surgery for intestinal blockage on Aug 14th. Tuesday when we were at the VA Dave told the doctor about the nausea and cramping he has been having as well as the previous 2 trips to the ER. The doctor at the ER was shocked that he had not been given anything for the cramping or  nausea by the VA doctor. At the ER they discovered that he now has pneumonia and was given an Antibiotic in addition to the nausea and cramp medications.

Hi Dennis

Dave is lucky to have such a good friend and I am sure he appreciates all that you have and continue to do for him. It looks like you are not quite over the hill yet so it is really important that you try and get some rest as the travelling alone is hard enough without having to sit around for hours in hospital.

Thinking of you

Love Sarah x

I am constantly shocked by the situation the VA puts your friend Dave and your self through, outrageous doesnt even come close. I do hope your friend is on the mend now he's on the drugs to help his medical condition, it boggles belief what you've both been through.

Please look after your self, pay back for long days with or without the frustration you'd of experienced just being back at the VA again, would be enough to fell even the healthiest of people. So be kind to your self and take it easy until your body is fully recovered.

Take care.........JJ

oh no, terrible news about the third trip in, but as lulu said, what luck to have determined the pneumonia before it went any further.

such a lucky thing to to have a friend like yourself to help through it all.

i sure hope you can find a way to rest up after all of it, you deserve and need it!

I just left a comment for you about Dave, that was before you had posted this explanation.  I sure hope the meds help to quiet the cramping and nausea and allow Dave to get back to healing.

He is fortunate to go outside the VA and find the pneuomonia.  If that had lingered it sure could have a different outcome.

You two have such a good friendship, you are both fortunate.

take care, L
