Glad you got back safe and sound, yes, GPS does NOT like sitting out below freezing temperatures, "been there, done that".
Did you turn off the water and put antifreeze in lines? (LOL)
Well, you must have needed the extra rest, just glad you made it home safely. I did not know Lowe's offered free internet….
Well I finally made it to TN. Got in around 2:30 PM and it took me 2 hours to get my computer up and running again here. It was really just something stupid that took so long. The first item I unpacked was the power cord for the monitor. Got every thing else set up and then spent the next 1.5 hours trying to find the power cord which I had set on the coffee table so that I could find it when I needed it.
The trip back here was actually aborted again on Monday. It took me all day to pack everything up and it was early evening by the time I was ready to hit the road. Well after driving for 2 hours I realized I forgot to shut off the gas. Didn't have that worry last trip as there was no gas to the place that time. So a two hour drive back home getting there about 9:30 PM. At this point I was too tried to start the trip again so I figured I take a nap before heading out again. At 6 AM i finally woke up from what was suppose to be a short nap, quickly got dressed, checked one last time that I had turned off everything (including the gas), set up my GPS and headed for TN. Well at least I got to see 1 live deer during that excursion. LOL
I had only driven a couple of miles when my GPS froze up. I mean I couldn't even get it to turn off. Oh great I'm going to have to remember all of the interchanges all by myself, Man am I going to get lost. So I unplugged the GPS to let it just run out of battery power hoping that would fix the problem. After about 15 minutes the GPS finally shut down and I plugged it back in. It ran perfectly the rest of the way home. The only thing I can think of was that it didn't like sitting in my cold pickup all night. It got down to 15.
For most of the trip I was passing everybody on the road even though I was only doing the speed limit. But both my speedometer and GPS where saying I was going the speed. limit. Of course that changed once I hit the TN border. After that everybody was passing me even when I sped up to 5 over the limit. The only wildlife I saw on the way here were dead deer. About 6 in PA, and another 3 in VA, and 2 in TN. I assume hunting season started in these states and therefore the deer were being chased out of the woods.
Oh it is so nice to have my Internet back, I missed that a lot up in ME. While I could go on-line up there at restaurants (And LOWES), they limit the amount of time you get before they kick you off. With lowes it is 2 hours. So by the time I got to read very much my time was up.
I had want to get back by at least yesterday so that I would have today to rest up as I have a DR. Appt up in Nashville tomorrow. So I guess I'll have to rest up REAL QUICK with the rest of today.
Dennis
Dennis, I was thinking of you earlier today --- I saw at least a dozen live deer and one very dead buck on the side of I-70 making the drive to Columbus.
I hope you can get on the road soon and make it back to TN.
safe travels, L
Take it easy, Dennis, I did a similar thing today, rearranging boxes so I could get the truck in the garage finally (not there yet) and came down with back spasms………..yuck…………
have a safe trip!
I SO get it with the night time leg spasms!! Puts a crimp in my whole day, and I spend a lot of time stretching the leg that cramped.
You're right about temperature/colorful foliage. Leaves need those cooler temps to change color!
I've been seeing wild turkeys, deer, rabbits, and bobcats over the last week.
Safe journey, tomorrow. Can you take a muscle relaxant before bed, tonight?
Hugs!
