Further MiSadventures of Quix and her Crew

Hi, Team, I didn't expect to fall completely off the virtual ledge.  I was taking a break when my mom fell and broke her finger.  She wouldn't go into Urgent Care until it became clear that the finger was going to remain permanently pointing north.  So she agreed to go on Monday.  Well...not wanting to let a trip to Urgent Care go unenjoyed, Sunday I experiemented with blowing up a joint.  Many of you will remember that last summer I fell out of a rocking chair and fell gracefully onto my right ankle, thus rupturing all the medial ligaments.  This caused my joint to be unstable and I twisted it just right to get a spiral fracture of the fibula out of the experiment.  The injury healed uneventfully, but the orthopod was concerned about lingering instability in the ankle.  This didn't turn out to be a problem.

So, fast forward to now.  Things are going swimmingly, so to speak, a little dip into depression which has been an old chronic problem.  Sunday i was standing still at the counter in my bathroom.  I shifte my weight onto my right foot and lifted my left foot up to nudge a bottom drawer closed.  There was an instantaneous explosion of pain in my right ankle and it dropped me.  I fell backward and hit my head on the tile floor.  Just hard enough to get a sympathy-worthy goose-egg, but not hard enough to shake my ancestors.

So, I'm lying with my head under my sink, crying because my jaw hurts.  Why my jaw, you ask?  God only knows,  it wasn't involved with the fall - my goose-egg is on the back of my head.  I am aware of the pain in my ankle and head, but wollering about the spasm in my jaw.  The crew shows up on the scene .  One by one each cat shows up to sniff my face and express concern.  They really are empathetic.  No raccoons deigned to express their well-wishes.  This  may be reflected in their rations, we'll see.

Every disaster teaches us something, I suppose.  I now know that my right ankle is not trustworthy.  I know that the contractor did a very neat job installing my sink and I know that my water filter is ka-put.  All useful knowledge.
And as I rolled over to try to get to my feet without bearing weight on a rapidly swelling ankle, I found the missing mouse carcass in the floor of the shower. Actually came face to face with the little guy.   It was fresh, and I think one of the cats brought it in to raise my spirits.

So mother and I were seen on a Two-fer in Urgent care.  Her finger is nicely shattered and will have to be rebroken and set.  My ankle - aside from looking like a small pumpikn - looks fine.  I am scheduled to see the same ortho guy on Friday.  It isn't the same injury as July.  It swelled differently and hurts way more.  The pain is a sickening kind of pain and not just the usual "injury" pain of a strain or sprain.  Last July the question was whether I needed to had the ankle stabilized with a pair of screws.  We were able to avoid it.  I have a sinking feeling that now I am about to be really screwed.

So, again I am too loopy to post or get much knitting done.  I will begin dropping in here to get my mojo back.  My posting is slower with the laptop, cause the keys are all in the wrong places.  I am back under the order for "No gatuitous walking."

My sense of humor has taken a powder.  We're hoping it is a brief hiatus.

Love you guys.  Take care of each other.

I see that your cats are never too far away.....from trouble.  They seem to be re-occuring actors in your story.  And they're bringing you gifts - how sweet.  :-)
Perhaps some of the raccoon rations should go to the kitties?

And, if you ask me, you NEVER lost your MOJO.
I hope your doctor appt goes well.

hugs,
Kelly

oh dear  I am trying to not laugh at the way you related this latest incident, whilst at the same time whinsing and holding back tears of sympathy,

You writing, as always is entertaining but hides a wealth of suffering. Dear Quix you give so much here, I do hope  they stop the pain soon and that your ankle mends quickly.

You recently waxed lyrical over your love affair with the floor but it looks as though that has now progressed too a full blown physical relationship if the result is to be well and truly screwed - lol

Rest up and pamper yourself.

(((hugs)))

I don't know how sorry I feel for Quix.  Do you think she is rather bragging in her post about the possibility of being screwed?  Then goes on to speak about knitting and other odd things.  If I had the possibility of a screw, I doubt my mind would be on knitting....Let's face it.  Quix brags a lot.....(laughing)...Plus she then signs with a list of both men and women ( Clyde, Abby, Trax, Tony and Fizzy )...and I just wonder if all were to be involved?

I hope recovery is smooth Quix.  Your humor is missed ...and the knowledge you share with us.

Quix,

Wow what a ride. I really hope all goes well for you. Hopefully getting screwed will keep your spirits up lmbo.

On a more serious note, take care of yourself, I know what it is like to be on the ill side of things. I am praying for a quick and speedy recovery for you. We will all be here for you when you return.

As for the laptop, you will adjust to it lol, I had a small laptop before and the keys were so close together now I have a big laptop and I had to learn where all the keys were again lol

Take care and get plenty of rest

Sensing your absence had serious add-ons, like Pat, reading intently to see how you are really doing, I couldn't help but laugh -- it's the racoon rations, then spirit raising mouse carcus and getting screwed that did it.

Ah, Quizzlesticks, do think the contractors messed up when they didn't install rubber floors. The custom ones used for gyms and equipment.  To the contrary Doc Q, your humor is climbing it's way through the stitches.

Hope you and Mother and are following good orders and begin to mend.

Yeah, what they said.

I understand the tile over rubber choice, for reasons of sanitation.  However, I'll prescibe knee and elbow pads as would be employed for assorted athletic contests, along with a bicyclist's helmet.  Train the cats to push in those stray bottom drawers when necessary.  Consider a Rollator.

And I have plumbing repairs to address, upstairs...

Ouch Quix.  At least you seem to have avoided the SER FX this time.  I have some wire and a a pin from a SER III several years ago.  Heal up and get well!

Hi Quix,

Your sense of humor has NOT taken a powder, and you write so vividly that I find myself laughing out loud - just what I needed today.

BUT I am sorry for all that you are going through.  And even in the midst of all that, you are teaching all of us about being able to find humor and laughter in the toughest of times.
AND hope - what everyone needs!

Thanks for healing with your words,  and best to you and your mom.

I'm sorry you are not feeling well.  I really hope you don't get screwed on Friday (well, not unless you want to be.)      :-)

I think you and Bob both have appts on Friday.  Maybe you both will get good news.

Dear Quix,

Sorry to hear about your latest adventures. As for your relationship with the floor, if you didn't live out of state I'd swear my floor was cheating on me with you.

I'm sure you feel miserable at this point and I have a feeling you're going to get screwed on top of everything else.

Sending warm, gentle hugs for a quick recovery and hoping things go more smoothly for you.

The water metaphors keep floating in and just hope that the sinking feeling disappears and that it is not too long before you can set sail again.

So so very sorry to hear of all your woes, and as always you allow us all to read your story with the humour that makes us all smile...but tinged with the sadness that you truly do not deserve to be going though all this again. I was just imagining you and your Mum being treated together and I am sure that you both had to see the funny side and hope that the hospital staff looked after you well.

Hope you don't need the nuts and bolts and tell the cats to leave their prey outside

Love hugs and much sympathy

Oh, bummer!  It's hard enough to put up with 'the disease' without having this other stuff to deal with as well.  Hey, take care of yourself, and watch out for those blood clots - with your inactivity and a fresh injury, you might be at risk.

Quix,  You have a real talent for writing, seriously---I think you should have a blog.  It would be a great outlet and could lead to a book contract.

You communicate so well I can see the water, mice, the bump on your head and all the animals.

I hope you start feeling better soon.  Your poor ankle and head!!!  I am so sorry.

The laptop will keep you off your feet as you can use it while in your comfortable chair.  It could become permanently attached to your lap though at which time you will need an intervention.

We miss you but take care of yourself first

hugs,   Red

yikes.... hope you feel better soon.  Bone pain is... pretty painful!

I have a nice set of screws in my foot.  Since It got cold this year I notice when the heat is on in the car my foot gets too warm, because the metal heats up with the heat blowing on it, and then I can't get it to cool down.  Such a strange feeling!

Hope your mom does ok too.

Now i've been thinking about what you've been doing to your self, i strongly suggest you give up the (secret) ballet lessons. This has to be the second or third mishap doing pirouettes, yes we know you have a yerning for the tutu and i'm sure you look really really good in it but perhaps its time.

I notice you've taken on a new career, I didn't know you wanted to be the local plumbing inspector, I was sure you were time poor, training the local wild life to remove the washing from the line. Its good to see the cats have finally started providing your dinner, you've put a lot of work into getting them to respond to your cat like wailing, ouuuuuuh, oooouuuuuh!

Though i'm sure, until you find a translator, there will be times when they still look at you like you've lost your marbles, not to worry they probably think your just a little thick, until you get the accent right. How are they going with the balls of wool untangling exercises, have they perfected the retreve part yet?

I know you American's like to buy in bulk, cosco's coming here soon, not sure what i'm going to do with the 1000 rolls of toilet paper, i don't think my butt is THAT big.  Anyway, I do understand value for your dollar principles but i'm not so sure Two-for's for Ugent care is going to take off. Though i'm sure the next time any of us take a spill, we'll be thinking about who needs to come with, though i'm not sure anyone will stand still long enough to let me brake their finger. Strange deal, do you also get a set of steak knives?

On a serious note, ^*&@&$ @$(*&%@(&%@ @$Y*@%@*% *%R@(@_ enough said!

Take care.......JJ

Sheesh, Quix, when it rains, it pours!  I'm so sorry you're going through this!

Good kitties, though.  Doing their job with the mice!  Mine brought me a rat and a gopher the other morning.  She doesn't hunt a lot, but when she does, we're rewarded!

Speedy recovery, sweetie.
