So do "flares" go away by themselves?

I am assuming the answer is yes but just curious.  No I still do not have a MS dx and this week, for the first time in many, I have hope that maybe it is not what I have.  Since May I have been having increasingly painful senstations and parasthesia in my arms and legs and hands and feet.  Worse on left side. Fatigue, braing fog.....  I don't know if any of you remember but my LP showed increased intercranial pressure and IgG.  Mri w/wo contrast at 1.5 tesla was normal.  The neurologist thinks it is MS but is doing tons of tests to rule out other tings.  I see him again in 2 weeks.

Well,  I started Neurontin about 3 weeks ago.  And I am happy to report that for the first time in many many months, maybe years...that I have had 3 GREAT days in a row!  Grandted I haven't been out in the 100 degree weither and I still have some pain and twitching but the pain is under control and I've had, can you imagine, energy!  LOL.  So I am sure that the neurontin is helping some, it is so nice to feel semi-normal.  I am just wondering if Neurontin is a med that will make neurological conditions (MS or other) go away?  Am I lucky?  Either way I'll take it.

But do MS flares go away on there own, in general.  I am just wondering.

Thanks and hope you all are doing well!

I think in general, all flares go away on their own.  Doctors prescribe steroids to help the inflammation, but the actual healing is done by the patient.  I've had at least five flares since 07, and had steroids (oral) for only one of them.

There is a Health Page called "Relapses, Remissions and Pseudo-Exacerbations" that gives the common definitions of these.  The answer is yes, Flares (aka Relapses and Exacerbations (known in my house as Exasperations)) resolve on their own, in their own time.  They may resolve completely or there may be some lingering symptoms.
