Thanks JB. We lit the candles last night. My sons were fighting over who got to pick out the color for the candles I got multi-colored ones this year. It was fun watching them squabble seemed like old times. The sad part is that they are both in their late 20's. :)
We are all together again tonight before they head off to NYC for a quick visit. I've got the latkes ready to be fried and a dreidel to play games tonight. This is the first time we've been together for Chanukah for a long time.
Michelle, that is wonderful that you son has gone to Israel. I am sure he will have many stories to tell when he gets back.

The first night of Chanukah has passed and the sun is coming up on the east coast for a new day. Tonight will be the lighting of the second candle on the Menorah, and another night of good friends and foodf for most. To our friends here who observe Chanukah, may the flame stay lit for you forever.
peace, L
My God mother is a Christian Jew. Sounds strange, but that is the way it is. The lady at the store thought I was crazy when I bought her a new Menorah for Christmas. It made perfect sence to us. My boys are excited about celebrating Chanukah with her this year!
yes, Happy Chanukah to all who celebrate!
Tonight is the 1st night, and my boys r very excited for all the rituals.
My oldest,15 yo, left for Israel Sunday. He made it there, thank goodness, and will spend 16days in the holy land. Wish I had gone ;)
One of my younger sons asked if we could call him tonight. nope. I am happy to know they miss him. (wasnt sure with the "brotherly love" which usually endsmin tears ;))
Anyway, Thanks for the warm wishes,
Michelle

Chanukah starts on Dec 20th
JB, that is so kind of you to take the time to share this with others. Chanukah begins mid-week and we have several members here who will light the Menorah and sing the songs and celebrate with family and friends.
