Have you ever noticed......

Hey Guys and Dolls,

Whilst doing my stretching and basic strength exercises, one of which is to bounce jump, basically i'm impersonating a frog, hey dont laugh i do weirder things lol anyhooooo I'd just been standing on one leg, being a frog etc etc and when I walked over to the fridge, which i'm sure you'll all agree is a simpler activity lol well for me not so simple, after doing my exercises, I just couldn't maintain my balance anymore.

So that got me wondering if i could still do the heel to toe walk, and nope i fell over, interesting to note that my tremor was going off at the same time. I can usually do the heel to toe walk better than anyone else in my family, i was a gymnast so balance etc was a skill i relied on, a useless skill i use to think lol maybe not. I've also spent years walking kids around the lines in the school yard, helps Autistic kids refocus etc so because i've basically been able to do the heel and toe test, ive not been surprised that I can.

For those that dont know, I walk like a human string puppet at lot of the time, i do a lot to retrain my seive of a brain, brain plasticity rational but if i'm puppet walking with the bouncing being so big, i dont usually focus of anything other than staying up on my feet and getting those blasted steps out. I have noticed the more I do, the worse i get until i've rested long enough for it to settle back down again.

So here's the question, Have you noticed that you loose functional control the more you do?

Cheers.......JJ

hmmm I still remember back when everything changed for me, and being totally confused with why the exact opposite reaction kept repeatedly happening. Basically whats 'normal' and expected, is the more you do an activity, the more flexible the tendons, the stronger the muscles you use, the more repetitions you can do and the easier it becomes etc Well I know thats not exactly true anymore, though I will still keep expecting 'normal' results, but be ok when i always get the opposite lol

The more I do the less i can do, though i'm a firm believer in brain plasticity and will continue to believe that i'm at the least keeping somethings going strong, lol sometimes the opposite rule applies, i'm all for doing what ever works. ROFL i use all 4 limbs when i'm frogging it, my legs are the power and my hands are used to balance and catch when the legs fold on me.

btw i have brown tree frogs sharing our environment curtesy of DD growing a couple of tad poles when she was little and then releasing them in the back yard. I kid you not but i have pulled a little green tree frog called freddo, out of a bigger frogs mouth and started mouth to mouth before i realised what i was doing lol freddo lived but the bigger guy was not impressed his lunch got away lol

Cheers........JJ

I think so. I notice that my left leg (bad leg) is weaker in the late afternoon and evening after I have been out and about all day. (I walk a lot in my job), I also seem to have trouble walking when first getting out of bed.

As far as heel to toe; If I am every asked to take a field sobriety test I will most definitely fail! I can't walk heel to toe.

Of course you couldn't do the heel toe after your frog bit Ms JJ! Contracting those muscles like that, then expecting them to cooperate at will in a standing postion.....And, frogs have 4 legs - git r done

The short answer is YES.

The long answer is I read somewhere that it only takes a fraction of a degree rise in core temp to exacerbate symptom for people with MS. This is what killed me the last time my doctor ordered PT for me. I did 5 minutes on a recombinant exercise bike and could barely walk afterwards so the therapist had me stop for the day.
