The "periatrial white matter tracts" are one of the areas that MS lesions are commonly seen in the brain. FLAIR T2 is a FLuid Attenuated Inversion Recovery sequence on MRI that show nerve demyelination as a "hyperintensity" (whiter/lighter than the surrounding tissue.)
