I definitely need to move... Fawns will be up and walking within an hour of birth. Not very steady, but up and walking.
Have you checked out my photos. I have a picture that my mom sent me of a fawn that fits in the palm of your hand. It was a fawn that was delivered after the doe had died in an accident. Needless to say it was premature and still was up walking shortly after birth.

Update that i meant to post last night but forgot (imagine that I would actually forget something LOL):
Dennis, I do wish you had seen my backyard around 4 pm. I was looking out the kitchen window and there was that huge doe again (it looked like the same one) but this time she also had a very small fawn following behind her. The fawn was no bigger than my smallest grandpup and had to have been very very young. I don't know how old they are before they get up and walk, but this was the tiniest one I have ever seen.
Sorry to my Lyme friends, but this was a beautiful scene!
keep looking,
Lu
Dennis, You deer was in my backyard this morning. Beautiful huge doe, just munching on the tree leaves. It is welcome as long as it leaves my hostas alone and doesn't discover my tomatoes and peppers.
Everyone up this way is talking ab out the size of our garden plants and the abundance of fruit on them. I'm thinking the early heat and lots of water have something to do with it up here in Ohio but I don't know what's going on in TN.
When you throw in the report on your truck mileage, I have to wonder if some supernatural force is at work here? LOL

"To market, to market to sell peppers and toms
Home again home again jiggety jom"
(No I don't know what a jom is either but it kinda rhymed...almost)
I've got that silly Sunday afternoon feeling :)

I don't remember there being a lot of thunderstorms here, but then again most days I can't remember how to spell my own name while writing.
I forgot to mention Dave's pine trees have add 18 to 20 inches of new growth this year while last year they looked like they were all going to die due to pine beetles and drought.
The strange happenings also are not just with plants. My pickup is rated to get 16 MPG combined highway & city. In prior years I have checked every now and then and I was getting between 15 and 17 MPG so just about on target. Over the last 2 months I have been getting 24 MPG and it is looking like my next filled will be over 25 MPG. That is a 50% increase in gas mileage. Do you think it heard me talking to my friend about trading it in on something that gets better gas mileage? :)

Have you had a lot of electrical storms this year? I have heard that they can make a real difference in your garden plants growth.
Water weights eight pounds per gallon. It sounds like you're down about 5 quarts now? I hope all that fluid loss doesn't alter your electrolytes - potassioum especially.
Mary
Maybe your water pills took your fluid and gave it to those crazy plants haha!!!
