DV and everyone else

I would love to say my week is quiet, but how can it be with Christmas looming?  My granddaughter spent last night with us - my daughter came too and helped organize a great sleepover, complete with crafts, cookie baking, movies and books.  It was a hectic 24 hours and I was exhausted by the time they left.  I sat down to catch my breath and fell asleep.  :-)

We stay in town for Christmas  - almost all our relatives are here, including our elderly parents (ages 93, 88, 87) and there will be several days of family gatherings.  We oly have the Thursday/Friday combos off of work this week and next - any extra days are vacation time.  Its very quiet so I will be off a few extra days, which will be wonderful.

Its been so busy that I haven't been on here as much as usual  - I miss staying in touch.

my best,
Lulu

This week has involved more doctor's visits than I had anticipated and they're not for me. Last Friday my daughter had labs which confirmed her hypothyroidism and today she was started on Synthroid. Today also was her MRI with MS protocol for her head pains and paresthesias.

After a 2 month wait my rollator/transport chair was delivered. Many mixed emotions regarding this.

Tomorrow  my son has a follow-up with the peds ophthalmologist regarding his auto immune eye inflammation.

Wednesday: Finish the Christmas shopping...only a few things left.

Thursday: baking

Friday: enjoying Christmas with my family.

Saturday and Sunday: sleeping, sleeping, sleeping!

This year has brought a few changes, acceptance of my limitations so i'm doing what i can and not doing what i do, so the tree is up but decorated by the kids, my analretentive symatry is not whats important, good lesson to learn lol

Mon - recovery day, did way too much on sat and sun and paid the price.

Tues - Pick up son's script, pick up last few presants, sleep, sleep and more sleep

Wed - wrapping day, drink some bubbly, eat cheese and crackers, more sleeping

Thurs - Clean the house & yard, sleep, prep food for early morning breakfast

Frid - Roll out of bed, stop my son from shaking the presants to death, cue smile ignore PJ's as i welcome the breakfast croud, open presants and enjoy the moment. clean up, sleep, get ready for the dinner croud, set the table with gliz and shimmers, 200 party poppers, remember to get out of my PJ's, get the food going, enjoy the moment.

Sat - second Christmas with my step mum, drive over an hour with packed car, set up table for 30, prepare food, more presants, more bubbly, hope to find a quite spot to sleep this time hoping to avoid embarrasing photos of me wearing xmas stockings on feet, santa hat on head lol. Enjoy the moment!

Sun - pack for 2 week holiday down the river, ready the house for sitter, find room in the car for all the unnecessary bits and pieces everyone just has to take. Eat left overs, play some game or thingy my son just got, laugh about all the strange things family said or did and there will be a lot of that. Fall into bed at some rediculas early hour with the alarm set for 4am for the 5 hour car ride.

Mon - miss you guys and hope you have some wonderful news for me to catch up on when i get back. So on that note, everyone please enjoy the moment and i'll say a howdy doo when i get back in the new year. :-)

Cheers............JJ

Today, a little shopping and finish the gift wrapping, maybe straighten up a little.
Tonight, dress up a little, go out to dinner and to see the Nutcracker; I'm excited!

Some night this week, see the Zoo Lights from the Zoo Train with three young boys, their parents and grandmother.  Hopefully it won't rain too hard; taking rain ponchos.

Christmas Eve, going to my step-sister's house for a dinner and celebration with a house full of fun and loving extended family, good food, and a present or two.

Not sure about Christmas day yet.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas.

Sorry about that big dent in the schedule, Heather.  I think most of us look forward to completing a new MRI just to find out where things stand, and the anticipation is magnified by the fact that it is so hard to get an MRI ordered and scheduled, in most cases.

I'm embarrassed, but I forgot to mention the big item on my schedule for the week, TO WHICH YOU ARE ALL INVITED: "Candles, Carols, and Cookies" on Thursday, Christmas Eve, at 6:00 P.M. at my church, www.AshleyWesleyan.org.  Merry Christmas, everyone.

I have begun to volunteer at our local Hospice Hospital and will be volunteering there tonight for about 4 hours.

Was supposed to have a brain MRI today but since my insurance doesn't have a Deductible carryover into the next year, I've cancelled it and will have it sometime next month.

Tomorrow night our Church will have its mid-week service with potluck dinner and then we will all go sit in the choir loft and share Christmas memories, sing songs and celebrate the birth of Christ.  Me and the hubby will also remember that Tuesday will be 9 years that his Dad has been gone from us and that it will be his 10th Christmas in Heaven.

We will spend Christmas day with the hubby's family and my mom.

I hope you all have a blessed Christmas and that you feel as well as possible.  Remembering that Jesus is the reason for the season.

Suppose to go get follow up MRI of the brain and spine this morning, but cannot get out of my driveway.  Our road is not state maintained, so I am faced with 28 inches of snow just to get to the main road, which is a dirt road for about a mile...so I am stuck.

Had myself really pumped up to get this MRI out of the way.  It takes a long time to do the brain and spine with and without contrast dye.  Hard to do with six bulging dics in my spine.  My back is killing me by the time it's all over and I literally have to roll off the table with the help of two technicians.

Only good thing about all this snow, is they say it will partially remain on the ground through Christmas.  Makes for a beautiful day on Christ's birthday.

Gee.  With the way the last few weeks have developed, I'd be wise not to predict what this one will bring.

Christmas Day I will make laasagna for our house, Nancy's 3 adult kids, their S.O.'s, & 3 to 5 rugrats included.

Included also will be meetings with at least two different engaged couples, probably on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

My siblings & extended families on that side will gather again at our baby brother's house (he's 46, but he's still the baby, right?) on the 26th.

That's enough; all subject to change with little to no notice.

God bless all.

Working straight through till xmas eve...I never ran out of holiday time so early....I am working Tues-Thurs next week too.  I am now paying for all the wonderful time off I took throughout the year.  Oh well, it will be quiet at the office and I will probably get lots done.

I'm pretty much done shopping, just need to pick up a few small things, and get a bit of baking done.

Xmas eve- quiet night at home, the two of us snuggling with Nakita and no doubt missing our beloved Lars :(   Probably watch "Bad Santa"  (Billy Bob Thornton); somehow this has become a tradition, though I would prefer the Grinch.
Xmas day- presents, long distance phone calls, dinner hosted by friends
Boxing day- another dinner, hosted by other friends
Sunday night- hosting dinner at our house

and somehow try to fit some exercise in somewhere due to all the excessive eating.

Oh, and H1N1 vaccination at work on Tuesday.

what about you, Lu?
