Hi Kat,
I am hoping she can help me with more than just the swallowing. I have had swallowing problems, I had aspiration pneumonia last year and all in all it lasted 5-6 months, 3 days in the hospital. But I found out just what was going on, with many tests and instructions on how to eat.. Its the worst pneumonia you can have and I really don't want it again. Anyway, I do know how to prevent it now although I don't do everything I am suppose to but I am very careful.
I would like to learn more about actual speaking, slurring of words, and such...as I just did, finding words, putting them together. Memory....all of that.
I did see someone at UCSF once about my memory and early dementia, their diagnosis. I didn't get too much out of it, most of it I already knew and already practiced. So we will see how it goes.
But the PT is helping, my balance is already improving. And just getting some exercise makes me happy and with someone coming to my home keeps me going, I may have quit already. But it helps my motivation when someone is coming every other day to help me and telling me I am going to get better and that we can do this.
Anyway, its a great way to go
hugs, meg
Hi Meg I hope you find with therapy that you will be able to move more easily . I went to speech therapy for swallowing problems and slurring of words it has helped alot she showed me techniques to swallow so things dont get stuck and I choke. Are you having swallowing or problems with speech?
Kat
