8 years ago age 55 I started with burning pain both legs from the waist down. It felt like I had cement shoes on when I tried to do stairs. My muscles are very tight. 2 years later after many other MD visits - I was diagnosised with small fiber neuropathy-confirmed with skin biospy. He also felt I had MS, MRI of the brain came back with numerous subcentimeter foci of increased t2 signal identified in the white matter of the centrum semiovale and corona radiata bilaterally. Possible etiologies include microvascular ischemic changes. The appearance is somewhat atypical for demyelinating disease. Spinal tap was tramatic and only 1 band . Sent to an ms specialist who wasn't sure but treated me with IV steroids. Put on Cymbalta which really helped. 2 years later right side back pain on bending - ortho work up stated it was neurlogical - went back to MS who felt yes it's ms - based on time. I'm currently on Kesimptra but I can't help but feel I could still be misdiagnosed. My muscles are extremely tight. I have tripped and fallen, I do have poor balance, weakness in my right leg, increase relexes at the knee . I'm still seeing the MS specialist but I still feel like I'm unsure of the dx - and don't want to be on a DMT if it's questionable. Any one else experience this?
