MRI question

Hi guys...

I'm pretty good at reading and understaning my MRI reports but my newest report was obviously read by someone other than the people who have been reading my MRIs over the past 4 years.

The terminology this person uses is different but one specific comment has me scratching my head. It might not be a big deal in terms of my MS but I'd like to have a handle on what it means so I know what questions to ask my neuro for my upcoming appointment.

It reads: There is relatively extensive cord abnormality at the left T6-7 and right T7-8 levels involving nearly the entire AP dimentsion of the cord.

I've never seen "involving nearly the entire AP dimension of the card" ever before.

Any idea what that means?

Also, for some reason, this person says that they cannot determine if the T spine lesions are enhacing or not because a different "protocol" was used and there is some "artifact"? In 10 years of being imaged - I've never seen that before, either.

Thoughts?

You are awesome! Thank you. That makes sense.

On the axial images it looks like its taking up an entire half of the cord.

Sorry about the typos up there!

Forgot, artifacts are images from movement or natural bodily process that make images show up where there really aren't any. Again, my understanding and might not be correct.

AP direction means anterior to posterior, or front to back. It basically encompasses the entire width of the cord, if it's not an artifact. That's how it reads to me. I'm not a pro, so will wait for more experienced to chime in here.
