OK is this vertigo???

Hello all.  I have no idea how best to describe this feeling I am getting.  I thought it was a vision issue that my new glasses fixed, but today it is back again and the glasses are on my face.

It is almost like the beginning of a migrane but it pulsates.  The pulses last anywhere from 2 sec to 30 sec and it effects my sight.  I would almost say it effects my perception more than my site.

I feel like the front of my head (brain eyes all of it) takes extra time to catch up to where I am looking.
I would not call it dizziness, but I certainly think I could fall down if not supported during one of these episodes.
It can become painful and turn into a headache if the episodes don't cease and I don't lay down.

My balance is really great and I have never addressed vertigo before with my Dr.

I will say though that about 16 years ago I suddenly developed motion sickness (I lived on roller coasters as a kid so this was a big bummer).  I never had any reason for it nor did I get it checked, but it is still there just as bad as ever.  I am wondering if I have lesions that could be messing with my balance and causing this head thing.

Ok so that is my sob story.  Any input would be great.

Thanks
D

Thanks for the responses.  I have an appt with the neuro on the 17th so I will mention this to him and see what he thinks.

I went to an optomotrist who says my optic nerve looks good but I am guessing I need a better opinion.  It is just so hard (I'm sure you know) when it doesn't happen during the week you have your Dr appt. I soooooooo don't think I can handle a VEP.  Those lights will stay with me for days.

My neuro is quick to offer steriods which I guess work for a couple months, but how long can that go on???

UGH! Oh well at least I have my family :)

Have you had any problems with your eyes?  Optic nerve damage will cause the problem you describe.

This sounds more like my version of my migraine. Although, I must say the the lag time you speak of is one of the symptoms of one of my full blown vertigo spells as well. However, the description in general does not fit vertigo which is when you have the sensation that either 1) you are stationary and the room is moving around you or
2) the room is stationary but you feel as if YOU are in motion when you aren't.

BTW, a history of motion sickness is very common in those with migraines.

Hope some of this helps,

Ren

I'm not sure I really grasp what you're describing, about the front of the head being slow to catch up to where you are looking.  This is probably because I've never had the same experience, but perhaps I have and just used different terms to describe it.  Do you have any kind of sense of fullness or weightiness to the front of the head?
